Just two questions on Home One's bridge:

1) where is it located exactly? In one of those pods on the exterior or is it internal?

2)Does anyone have any diagrams for the bridges layout (Like this) or even pictures of the bridge itself?

You check the SW technical commentaries site. It has extensive essays on bridges of both Imperial and Rebellion warships.

Yes I have and the entry for Home One doesn't have pictures of the bridge layout itself. Nor does it pin down the exact location of the bridge.

Since the bridge has windows, it's not going to be on the inside.
Judging from the movie, it seems to be facing forward.

Well, the (questionable) testimony of the X-wing games has it on the top in one of the pods, but then XWA classifies it as an MC-80a. Whether its a mistake or if they just didn't want to load an entirely different model I have no idea.

IIRC there doesn't appear to be any of the ships hull in the shots looking out the main view port, that kinda makes me think it was at the very front.
Although considering where the bridges are on SDs, that seems kinda weird.

it could still be internal despite the windows... holograms for aesthetic reasons


IIRC the bridge is a pod type thing that sticks out about the middle of the ship, thats the best i can describe it.

That makes sense, but then what are all the other ones for?
Think about what I said about the bridge being as the very front of the ship, that would seem to fit in with the Mon Cals fetish for making ships like sea creatures, with the bridge near where the eyes would be.

Its one of those two, and looking at it im inclined to think its the one at the back, looks more heavily armored...

That would fit in with the type of location for an SD, but I'm pretty sure Ackbars view wasn't impaired by anything in RotJ, and the other strute looks to be in line of sight. However, he could have been looking out a side port.

Well, X-wing says its the rearmost one, I think. But the movie seems to suggest the forward pod.

Its likely the forward one, with the back one acting as a secondary bridge.

The thing is some ships (like the Acclamator) have their bridges completey enclosed with no windows but viewscreens that look and function pretty much the same way a window does.

One thing about the pods though, Home One sure has alot of them.

EDIT: Circled two more possible pods I missed before bringing the number up to 13.

Well, in XWA one pod on the MC-80a is the bridge and the other is a shield generator. You can shoot it out, but unlike a Star Destroyer's "shield generators" a Mon Cal's shields will drop to zero but then immediately begin recharging. Shoot off the generator and then leave it alone and there's nothing to shoot off to drop them the second time. Huzzah for redundant systems!

The pods are modules for equipment. Some have sensors, some weapons and so on. Such weapon pods can also be found on the Dreadnaught.

The Galaxtic Empire databank site also mentions the redundant shield system. I think it is also mentioned somewhere in the EU.

Yeah, I think its in the RotJ novel too, but I'm not sure. Its canon on some level, though. XWA got several things right, but there will always be errors in games.

The one in the front is the Rotating Restaurant.

Its also possible that the various pods represent various forms of 'bridges'. People are too used to Star Trek in which every thing is in one central location, its possible that one pod is the Helm/Con while another is the gunnery/watch pod and another is the Admirals observation bridge and another is.......

I mean is the room we see in RotJ actually identified as a 'bridge'? There is the Admirals chair, and IIRC another such chair and thats about it besides the briefing room right behind them and slightly below them.
