Imperial Technology's Future, What Could Have Happened?

A couple questions about what could have happened with Imperial Technology if the Emprie had continued. How much new technology could they come up with in 100+ years under Palpatine's rule(seeing as though he is not going anywhere with all those clones.
1. What do you think would be the next step for the Empire's deadly weapons?
2. If Palpatine had lived and continued to rule the Empire, what would happen with the IMperial Cloaking device? Would it get better and smaller? Would they find a way to make it small enough to use on the elite Imperial troopers? And would he find a way, however unlikely, to communicate through the cloak without the use of the force. And a seperate question about the cloak, if you stuck out a couple of anttennas covered with stealth armor, could you use that to communicate with other ships?
3. Would World Devastators become bigger and become a mainstay in the Imperial Fleet?
4. Would ship technology and ship building itself become so advanced that they could build kiliometer long ships such as 8km, 12km, 15km, to be the common battleships of the fleet?
5. Would they find a way to traverse galaxies without problems?
6. Would the Empire develope transporter technology, not neccessarely ST kind but mabye Goa'uld kind?
7. Would ressonance (suncrusher torpedoes, spelling might be off) torpedoes become a new weapon on Imperial Battleships? What about the Galaxy Gun Missles becoming more common among the larger command crafts?
If anybody has any questions they have about what could have happened, then please share. I am sure that I will think of things as soon as I get done with this.

Most superweapons would not be needed, as the Rebellion would have already eliminated.
Additionally, keep in mind the Galaxy's state of technological stasis. Twenty years makes virtually little difference to them, which we see is the case in the New Jedi Order.

I had switched, after realizing that 20 years was naot long at all, to 100+ years. This should allow some time for change. And I figure that Palpatine would still want to expand and what not, given his personality.

It would still remain pretty much exactly the same, unless some random freak discovery or innovation suddenly occured, which is doubtful.
If it hasn't changed much in the past thousand years, another hundred isn't going to matter much.

Well think of the inovations during DE and through out the Empire after and during the Empire reign. Suncrusher, Galaxy gun, World Devastators, Kilometer long ships, ect. IMO I would think that Palpatine would want to then expand into other galaxies.

The majority of those weren't really technological innovations, but were made due to political conditions.
Also, are factoring in just how much time, not to mention the issue of resources, would be involved in traveling to another galaxy? I think Palpatine would be quite satisfied with the Galaxy itself.

Your hypothetical future Empire still needs superweapons. I would expect it to maintain a few Death Stars and several of the smaller scale weapons. Because the superlasers are so overwhelmingly powerful, I wouldn't expect them to progress much over the centuries. Death Stars would be refitted every once and a while to keep their other systems up-to-date (like shielding, turbolasers and power). The ammount of weapons and their level of grandeur depends directly on your Empire's government. Has it restored the Senate or some kind of Moff Council (like the IR) if so there isn't much reason to maintain a fleet of Death Stars, and there would be serious opposition to so much overhead. Assuming the current Emperor/Regent was even for it. However, if your Empire is still operating under the despotic Tarkin Doctrine and is in a constant state of civil war (note that you can never really defeat the Rebels) it could have a lot of superweapons.

The World Devestators would have replaced shipyards given enough time. Since they can build other world devestators, let a few dozen lose in a nebula and go 'be fruitful and multiply'
Then put the former military build budget (once the World Devestators multipled in number enough to replace the military shipyards) into research.
You'd have seen Tie Defenders become the main fighter, replacing Tie Fighters, possible with Missile Boat SLAM and launcher technology added on.
Qauntum armor all all major ships, and probably an entire sector fleet of Q.Armored ships at the least.
Darktroopers would replace Stormtroopers....
Best way to say it
Palpatine sponsored all the superweapon projects to push technology, and to give it a jump start, as well as to control worlds. Remember, in the novelization of Return of the Jedi, he thought about his plans to conquer the universe, not just the Star Wars galaxy.
That means pushing for faster hyperdrives, and more powerful weapons to deal with other similair level civilizations.
I could see the Empire with dozens of Death Stars, hundreds of Super Class Star Destroyers, 6 digit numbers worth of Imperial Class Star Destroyers, billions of Tie Defenders, and whatever else Palpatine could have created and built.

As someone on other thread mentioned, an Empire built and ruled by fear must go that way ... must find a new enemy to rally the citizens. I think things would have been pushed forward a long way, if the said enemy could be found.
Maybe that enemy could be the Vong. This could serve as the best candidate.

I think after a while, Palpatine would have transitioned into his Dark Side Theocracy Empire, as seen in DE, so they wouldn't need to seek a new enemy after eliminating the Rebellion.

Whats the possibility of trans-galactic travel in a reasonable time frame? Not using standard hyperdrive, mabye the hypergate type things used by the Glee enclave.

DESB indicates that the superweapon projects were the prelude to planning invasions of other galaxies.
But until then, with tech. stasis, you'll only get application of available technology due to political will.

Which brings up the question, was Star Wars tech static because of lack of political will to use it, so why bother?
Or possible legal restrictions

It's because they reached the point where they really can't go any further in terms of technical innovation.
Baring some sort of sudden radical discovery, they literally can't go any further with the technologies they use.
EDIT: See IP's post below.

The technological and developmental state of the galactic civilization needs to be relatively static in order to prevent the reigning government from falling for twenty-five millenia, and for their not being a full-scale war in the same time. Political stasis mirrors economic, technological, and developmental stasis.
Once they developed and colonized and charted the whole galaxy, the civilization tends to settle into equilibrium. Hence why I said the invasion of another galaxy could produce a lot of new stuff with the sudden influx of change in a very ancient, monolithic civilization.

Makes you wonder what would have happened if they only have x16 - x100 hyperdrives (months to cross the galaxy instead of hours) for the past 25,000 years (up to NJO or so)
I mean, with that speed logisitc gone, tactics change. Like the need for more powerful planetary defenses since you can't get the local fleet there real quick, more powerful manufacuting to allow for more fleets to cover the bigger holes, and off course, more powerful ships to counter the planetary defenses
Methods of storing or transporting materials quicker since you already spent months in transit, etc.
