I'm just wondering where Star Tours fits in the canon of SW. Do we get to include a third Death Star in the Imperial era? Can a tour ship really enter the DS's shields, evade TIEs and maneuver down the DS trench?

I would personally take Star Tours itself as very, very low rung EU (if not simply Apocryphal), though a few elements (droid and ship model designations and compony names) from Star Tours have been mentioned in higher level EU novels.

Did Lucas/Lucasfilm have any input with Star Tours? If so it can probably be considered canon to a pretty good degree. If not, then it's more EU.

I don't think that it's too unlikely that Lucas was able to offer input-- after all, the original Star Tours was in Anaheim, CA-- practically in his backyard. And they did have to obtain all the permissions from Lucasfilm and all that... why not get it validated by Lucas himself?

Perhaps the Star Tours ride is a theme park event on some planet in the GFFA? Something like a re-enactment of the Death Star trench run?

Umm how the hell could Star Tours fit anywhere into the actual Star Wars continuity? The Death Star? R2 and 3P0 working for a travel company? Its just not physically possible. Its a theme park ride, nothing more. At best it could be viewed as an "Infinities" storyline.

Lucasfilm was involved in the production of Star Tours (which is actually in California, Florida, and Tokyo). ILM did the visual effects, for one, and Disney would have needed to get the attraction lisenced and approved in the first place.

But as for it's actual caNonicity: let me repeat myself and others here that it's a damn amusement park attraction...

Besides the ~10 second hyperspace jump between (wherever it is you start) and Endor would be really rippin' in a speed of ftl debate.

Maybe it could be considered lower than video games?

George Lucas himself is in it. That makes it above Canon!

Yeah, it is a cool ride, canon or not. Personally, I try to fit it into Star Wars continuity because that would mean I am in Star Wars continuity. And that, in my opinion, would be cool.

Hmm...I went on the ride too...I second that theory.

So did I, but I have common sense.

The first time I ever went on the ride, I remember walking in between the legs of a huge AT-AT statue outside. I was in awe of that thing. But, for some reason, it was gone the second time I went.

The star tours ride sounds interesting. I wlll give it a try when I get the chance.

Yeah and as much as I hate to say it, it's much better than the simulator at Star Trek: The Experience.

Not that I've noticed. Although, when I was younger I knew a kid who swore that it sometimes went to planets other than Endor and had different "missions." He was probably BSing.

They changed the name of the shop from "Endor Vendors" to "Tatooine Traders," but nothing in the ride itself.

Its generally considerd about video game level canon.

Probably based on events in universe (in this case, a rogue group managing to build a death star), that have been spun out of context.

It's most likely considered Apocrypha.

Literally it doesn't fit into any sense of continuity nor ever mentioned in continuity.
