Acclamators have ISD bridges (Republic 64)

In darkhorse's preview for Republic 64, we are given an inside view of the bridge of a Republic Assault Ship, which is apparently identical to that of an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. It seems that the KDY bridge model is more standardized than previously thought.

Other tidbits in the preview include a new breed of clone trooper (an assumption on my part, seeing as he has NO resemblance to Jango Fett), and a young Captain Pellaeon in command of a Republic battle fleet! He seems to be commanding from an Acclamator, however, so I assume it must be one of the Republic's destroyer variants ordered early on in the Clone Wars.[/url]

If you play SW Clone wars, it shows you more of the birdge on the sides. They are pretty much identical.

I haven't seen the movie in a while but didn't AOTC show that the Aclamators have totally diferent bridges from the Star destroyers?

You never see an Acclimator bridge in AOTC

The exterior of the bridge module is different, but since we never see the interior, I don't see why they couldn't be similar, particularly since they're both KDY products.

My mistake, i thought he meant the bridge superstructure.

Look at the uniforms Pellaeon and others are wearing: they are (almost?) identical to the ones used by the Imperial Starfleet. Very nice! Is this the first time when we get to see naval uniforms used by the Republic?

No, the first time was in TPM, but they were blue then.

According to the AOTC:ICS the bridge-modules of the Acclamator doesn´t have windows.

The windows would be holoscreens.

Pellaeon... Interesting. Still has his penchant for withdrawing. Oh well, I can't judge his situation unless/until I read the comic.

...Captain Pelleaon?

I hate DHC.

Pelleaon was the executive officer of an ISD at Endor.

Oh, but twenty or so years earlier, he's a Line Captain of a flotilla, above a commanding officer of a troopship? Why is a troopship a Republic flagship?!

"I am in command of this battle fleet." How fucking stupid.

Anyway, fix time for Stradley sad little fuck-ups. Did Pelleaon get demoted and remain so until after the Battle of Endor?

I don't know. Maybe he was demoted at the ascension of the New Order? Palpatine would have some rearranging to do in the military, I think. Pellaeon was loyal to a fault to the Republic. Therefore, whether he would support a New Order or not was an unknown. Being reassigned and demoted would be more likely in the beginning, before the Senate was dissolved and the reign of terror got into full swing. Summarily executing line officers first thing isn't the best thing to inspire loyalty in the military. So, anyone who might be problematic but isn't definitely a threat would likely be moved to jobs where they can't pose a large danger.

As for an Acclamator being flagship, perhaps the flagship was destroyed and he was the next senior officer in the fleet? I dunno. The comic will say whether that happened or not. If not, then I can't help you.

IIRC, the WotC Core Rulebook's entry for the Acclamator states that after the ship's initial success at Geonosis, the Republic ordered 1000 new ships, including destroyer and carrier variants.

It could be rationalized that Pellaeon is in command of one of the destroyer variants, which are more heavily armed and armoured. At Endor, he may have been captain of the Chimaera and the commanding officer was a commodore or admiral.

It doesn't say that to my memory. Quote please?

I will have to get a Core Rulebook from one of my relatives, as I don't own one myself, but I am almost 100% sure that something of the like (1000 ships and variants) was mentioned in the Assault Ship entry.

WotC SWd20 Revised Core Rulebook pg.234 wrote:The success of the vessel in the early days of the Clone Wars prompted the Republic to order a thousand more from RHE, which by that time had begun designing bigger and better variations, along the lines of battleships and destroyers.
There you go.

It's not impossible that he had a blight on his career record that prevented advancement. It happens all the time, even in real life. Perpetual Colonel syndrome.

It's not that.

Its just that this stupid shit implies he was commanding flotillas of warships, and then later, he is just an executive officer.

This implies he was actually demoted, not just prevented from promotion.

Is it possible it's not the Pelleaon we all know? He was in the StarFleet for 50 years as of HttE... If I remember my quickie little thing from last night using the timeline in Star by Star, that would put him in service for something less than 30 years at the time of this comic...

Actually, 20 years. Assuming 21 years pre-ANH (the median between EP2 and EP3, just throwing it out since I know nothing else of the comic) and HttE is nine years post-ANH, that would make it 30 years between this and HttE. So, if he's been in 50 years as of then, that would mean he'dve been in service only 20 years. I don't think he'd be commanding a flotilla after 20 years (heck, I don't think you'd get that with 20 years in the USN, much less a Navy that lets you stick around as a Captain after 50 years of service).

This is assuming I didn't jack up the math, but anyway, this Pelleaon seems a bit too old to be have only been in 20 years. Maybe it's Pappy Pelleaon? :? Heck, that may give some more "depth" if you will to the "retreating Pelleaon" thing.

It is rather silly though considering his age and his position in HHTE. With all the established characters or the perhaps a new character, in the SW universe, I see no reason they should have screwed with continuity just to put a know character in it.

Tarkin would have worked.
GAT would have worked.
Ozzel would have worked.
Adon Tallon (sp?) would have worked.
Dodanna would have worked.
Ect.......

I'm not arguing that. Just trying to rationalize. :) Maybe it's not that Pelleaon (no matter what the author may think  ).

PS: Grrr, whatever that JAVA process is, I feel the urge to kill it...

Oh, I'm just arguing that overall, the idea is dumb. They obviously put him in there so a well known character was in there. They could have put a more plausable character in there.

I just used your post as a starting point for my discust.

Dodonna would have been the best choice, I think. He has had very few appearences in the EU.

Perhaps it was because of his failiure in the battle depicted in the comic that Pellaeon was demoted? It seems plausible, but I will have to see when buy this issue.

What does everyone think about that clone trooper on page 2 of the preview, talking to the Jedi Knight? It would seem that recruiting might have begun within the Republic for the clonetrooper ranks.
