WTF is this shit? (Ruins of Dantooine)

What the unholy hell? Tell me that this is non official bullshit. Seriously, even if X-wing was based off the game and bad at points, at least it had a decent story to it; this it looks like she played the game for a few dys and wrote what she did in it. It even has the exact "Would you like to join my party" bullshit at one point. It fucks continuity all to hell (E-11s that can punch through starship hulls can't kill RATS) and a trillion other bits of bullshit. It makes the Crystal Star look like something Mark Twain wrote by comparison. Its that fucking bad.
I am now officially a canon purist. Fuck this shit.

I have no idea what you're talking about.
And you know what? It sounds like I'm better off because of it.

Its a book based in the Star Wars Galaxies massively multiplayer online RPG. Ive seen it at Chapters. Its got a screenshot of some stormtroopers from the game on the cover IIRC.
Something tells me if it has that many continuity errors than its not considered part of the official EU.

Galaxies isn't EU.
It can't be, I mean, think about it, it would be so easy for a few people to go and screw with that section in history

There's a review over in the Books section on The Force.Net, I know. IIRC, they didn't like it that much, either.

Maybe the rats are made of nutronium
Hey, it's impossible, but it fixes any continuity errors.

Sorry, it doesn't work like that.

Just by looking at the cover, the only message presented by that book was: I am a unreadable piece of bullshit

What do you expect? THe Star Wars EU has always had more than it's share of total hacks. And it's a video-freaking-game novelization. The only one's I've ever seen pull of a great one of those was Black Library with Firewarrior. And frankly, the Lucasbooks people could learn a lot from them about franchise universes in general.

Got the book, haven't read it yet. Mebbe I'll put survivor's quest aside (which I have been reading infrequently due to reading the Anita Blake novels
) for a bit more and read that.
Edit: Into the first few pages and there are a few interesting details: Suggests Naboo is still around (wonder if Lucas is gonna allow that) and Palpatine has a retreat on the planet.
Also there is an implication that the first Death Star could have been replaced by now if it had been destroyed (admittedly its only the belief of a stormtrooper, but still..) Timeframe seems to suggest no longer than two years, but the fact that the Death Star's loss is still a rumor seems to suggest only months have passed.

When working on SWG, Sony had to get the use of Naboo approved by Lucas before they could put it in their Imperial-era game. Probably the same deal had to be made with the retreat.
Book sounds shitty. I wonder if it devotes 50 pages to waiting for shuttles or says the entire economy is run by self-sufficient home-based small businesses.

Now once again I've been away for about a year from the star wars universe, but you said, "Suggests Naboo is still around..." what exactly does that mean? Do you mean to tell me it ceases to exist?

Well, Lucasfilm has stated that Naboo will not be destroyed in Episode III. Additionally, the general impression I get from the EU and Lucasfilm's stance is that it most likely still exists.
