How canon is Starwars.com?

I ask this because many people have debates over things which are covered on Starwars.com

For instance I noticed a lot of people saying the Stardestroyer is a Destroyer type ship and thus very small compared to cruisers in the fleet. Yet on Starwars.com under the Databank it clearly states "Type Cruiser". Here is the link incase you want to see it.

And note this is under the "The Movies" tab and not EU.

The next is about the Stardestroyer class name. Is it Imperial or is it Imperator(sp?). Well if you look at the entry on Starwars.com about the Executor under the "The Movies" tab it clearly states
The Super Star Destroyer is one of the largest, most powerful Imperial vessels ever created. It follows the same basic dagger-shaped design of the Imperial-class Star Destroyers, but magnified to much larger scale.

So I now again ask. How cannon is Starwars.com? Because if it is totally cannon then why have people ignored this information? I'm not picking sides either way, I like star wars for the stories, not for the names or numbers. Just want to find out what people think about this. Thanks.

It's just a repository mix of official and canon information- not very useful to a knowledgeable Star Wars buff.

Not many people know that the true name is Imperator-class because of the preponderance of damnable Rebel nomenclature in the official literature ... :)

But hey, the Mandel blueprints say Imperator, its just as official as anything else, so Imperator it is.

The problem is that "Imperial" is all we ever hear in the movies. That overrides the blueprints. In the novelizations do they use the title Imperator?

Dont think so, and the Mandel blueprints have been overruled in the naming of ISD's.

So does this mean it is officially the Imperial-class Stardestroyer? You can't dispute the movies, they are as official as it gets. I'd like to hear people who think otherwise and why :)

It never once says in the moviews Imperial-class. It's always just Imperial Stardestroyer. So the name of the class could very well be Imperator.

Thread closed. This has been discussed on the official SD thread so if you feel the need to discuss Imperial vs Imperator this go there.
