Vader at Tantooine - ANH

Greetings to all!
I've been looking on this site for a while now and have finally gotten around to posting. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute.
My question/idea to ponder is:
Did Vader know that they had caught Leia over Tantooine? If so, why didn't he BDZ Sandpeople locations. Considering the level of hatred that his "good" side Anakin Skywalker showed to the Tuskin Raiders...what would Vader have done with a Star Destroyer?
Also, based on the affection that he showed to his mother, would he have visited her grave? Upon doing so he would have sensed Kenobi...had to of met Owen and Beru...found some kid named Skywalker...recognize the name and the kids story, turn young impressionable youth to the Darkside early.
Get to Death star. Alderaan Goes up...Leia Dead...Yavin Goes up...Imperial rule is complete!
If only one Bridge pit crewman would have said "My Lord We've intercepted the Tantanive IV in orbit of Tantooine"
Let me know what you think.

He's on the clock. The plans to the DS had been transmitted by spies to here and there, right after a defeat suffered by the Imperials courtesy of the Rebel Alliance. If the DS plans fall into the hands of the RA, then who knows what could happen? Maybe the RA will discover a weakness, and exploit it... yeah, funny that...
In any case BDZing Tattooine would be redundant and pointless, and again, distracting. He's there to find the plans, and to make sure they don't fall into the hands of the RA.
As for visiting his mother's gravesite, I doubt Vader would give a shit to be honest. Not to mention the other little fact that Owen and Beru were murdered, possibly under his direct orders. Of course, it's equally possible Vader knew nothing about what the Stormtroopers were doing planetside, as he delegated that responsibility to the Commander. Remember the line "See to it personally Commander" and he's chatting to that tool standing next to him? He probably knows he's in orbit of Tattooine, and he probably doesn't give a shit either; Tattooine is a shithole. Given this was where he saw his mother die it may also be the one place in the Universe Vader is reluctant to set foot on.

It is also arguable that decades of Dark Side influence have changed him, hence his disinterest in going down to Tatooine which is utterly unimportant in his grander plans of crushing the Rebellion and eventually seizing power from the Emperor.

I agree with you, since Obi-wan and even Vader himself consider Anakin Skywalker more or less dead.
"that name has no meaning to me" Darth Vader on his true name.

True, but who knows, maybe with his help they would have found R2 before the Falcon escaped.

One thing: A
Base
Delta
Zero is a specific operation that means totally destroying a world by turning the top meter at least into molten slag.
It is not a simple orbital bombardment.
And second of all, trying to orbitally bombard nomadic tribal settlements from orbit is bound to be a messy as a hell process. The secondary effects of wiping out the sand people would probably be sufficient to wipe out all life Tatooine. And even if he wanted to, I think that might not go over well with the Emperor.
But most likely of all, is that Darth Vader isn't really Anakin Skywalker any more. We know that by the time of the OT, he was a long way gone from the kid he was. He's been so submerged in being Darth Vader that he's doesn't really care about taking vengeance on the whole Tusken race nor about visiting the grave of his mother, who died decades ago. There's a definite dissociation of Vader and Anakin, one that doesn't go away until Luke shows up later on.

I find it interesting that eveywhere Vader has a mission (Bespin, Endor, both Death Stars, Hoth), he goes down to the planet or station himself, except Tattooine. I figure there'll be a line in Episode 3 like Luke's in ANH -something to the tune of "I'll never come back to this shithole." Ironic that the evil Vader kept his promise while good Luke didn't.

Vader had just caught a Rebel Alliance Leader, getting her back the Death Star for interogation was probably just as important as retrieving the plans. At least three Star Destroyers were also there, or on the way and thats more then enough for a blockade and surface operations. He didnt need to stay, his subordinates could handle a simple search and recover operation.

It's also possible the force told him it wasn't needed.
After all, it wasn't time to restore the balance.
However, ignoring that.
Who says Shimi is even buried on Tattooine still? He could easily have had the body moved after moved.
Heck, I can see this:
Post Episode 3
Obi-wan senses Vader in orbit, retreats deep to avoid detection.
Vader arrives on a Star Destroyer, goes to were-ever Watoo is, kills him for the hell of it (you know, payback for slavery), possibly wipes out everyone that ever knows him (and if he finds Sebulba, keeps him as a torture toy) and then goes and visits the Lars farm and demands Shimi's body. Since he'd have some Stormies with him, and Shimi wasn't Owen's blood mother, he should't object. I can even see Vader killing Clleat (Owen's father) to prove a point.
Vader spots Luke and Beru says 'please, we just had the baby, take your mother and go'
Luke figures 'okay, so he knocked up Beru. Not my problem'
Digs up Shimi, and does whatever. Possibly toss her body into the sun, possibly she was enshrined in Vader's palace. He then goes and slaughters some more tusken and finally gets's the last of Shimi's death out of his system. Spits on a few tusken corspes, and off he goes.
He has no reason to go to Tattooine ever again. It's just another dirt ball.
She put the plans on an escape pod? Go find them commander, any idiot can do that.
Moral: Don't send an idiot to do a Sith lords job
