Yavin Base Post ANH

All,

Though I know that the Yavin moon base has been used as a locale in the post movie books...would remains actually be there?

Given the situation immediately after DS1 going boom...would the Imp fleet that arrived not have BDZ the area out of spite? Modern History would suggest even if a base is abandoned by insurgents/rebels/gureillas/terrorists it is destroyed to prevent the same group from re-occupying that position at a later time. And would the Imp "blood lust" not be at a fever pitch because of DS1 Kaboom? If a fleet looses their greatest vessel...retribution is often gone after (example...after KMS Bismarck sank HMS Hood in WWII...Churchill pulled all available Royal Navy assets, including vessels on convoy duty to go "Sink the Bismarck")

Also...would the Yavin base have felt any of the ill effects that Saxton say shold befall Endor? Or was the Death Star far enough away? Or did the Yavin Gas Giant take some of the blast?

Tough I believe the imps got really pissed and sent a fleet of ISD's to clean up the place, I dont think they would do a BDZ. To what point? An orbital bombardment could just as easely whipe them out. Hell, the rebels dont even got a chance against a ground assault

Good question. I would say that the Imps got rid of the base, because I
can't think of a reason for them to leave it there.

TRhe base was left intact and was later used as the Jedi Acdemacy just read any EU book set after Jedi Search.

The Empire did send ships, and attacked the facility. Don't know why the facility wasn't destroyed, but at least a few rebel personnel were captured (Dodonna in particular, I think).

Wasn't that covered in the story line of Star Wars Battlegrounds, the 1st Imperial mission.

I seem to remember the imperial retaliation being covered in the old 80's Star Wars comics.

The Imps blockaded Yavin for about 6 months but didn't strike. The reason is that Vader was waiting until construction on the Executor was complete; he intended to use the SSD as his personal sword of vengeance against the Rebels that caused his humiliation. Though TIE Bombers hit the base when the strike was finally launched, the temples were built to stand and were utilized by the Jedi up until the Vong took the moon and the temples and base were broken down by Vong bio-tech for minerals and such.
