I have bee reading the book Han solo at stars' end when I was reading about the attack to Jessa's base I started thinking what if insted outlaw tech base the Authority IRD would find a secret Rebel Alliance base. How would the battle go if

1) the rebels have same 6 bearly spaceworthty Z-95's
2) the rebels have 6 X-Wings
3) the rebels have 6 Y-Wings
4) the rebels have 6 A-Wings
5) the rebels have 6 B-Wings

the Authority has 6 IRD's and their force can't retreat since th rebels would leave and any bigger that would come later would find just a deserted base.

Is this in space or above a planet? If above a planet, how strong is the gravity? Is there an atmosphere? Also, pilot skill is a big factor here. Assuming the CSA pilots and the RA pilots were on the same level, and this was in space, I'd put the results as being this:

1. Could go either way. Probably no more than one or two fighters left on whichever side wins at the end.
2. The rebels mop the floor with the IRDs. Maybe one or two T-65s get taken out.
3. Depends on the configuration of Y-Wings. Are they BLT-A4s, or -S3s? Do they have armour, or has it been removed for maneuverability?
4 and 5. These are very unfair to the CSA. They get owned in both cases.

the "battle" was fought in planetary atmosphere with Earth kind gravity and the CSA pilots lost to Solo and 5 techs with no true combat experience, but they did 4 for Z-95's with them.

I know what the scenario in the book was, I'm asking about the one you made up here.
