There is imperial officer called admiral Zaarin in TIE figther and X-Wing:Alliance computer games. Is he true Grand Admiral or Admiral who gotten hold of a Grand Admiral uniform (he wears grand admiral uniform in TIE figther, but not in XA.) What do you think?

I believe they have said that Zaarin is one of the 13 Grand Admirals and specifically the one that Thrawn replaces.

Ah, you are referring to this scene, right?:
Well, Saxton's research made it clear, that Zaarin never was Grand Admiral. He simply crowned himself to it after becoming traitor. He was only a Admiral.

I'm pretty sure the Essential Cronology states he's a GA.

Zaarin appears to have been a Grand Admiral. When he went traitor his official commision would be considered null and void, just like Benedic Arnold's was, at which point Thrawn was promoted to the position of Grand Abmirial. In one cut scene the Emporer says there are only 12 Grand Admirals(The Promotion schene).
Some guy still pretending to be a Grand Admirial does not still make him one.

Off course he did not hold any rank in the imperial navy after his treason, but my point was what was his rank before that.

Far as I saw, Saxton just personally didn't believe he was. There wasn't any evidence to show he wasn't before either, and the EC clarifies.

Dr. Saxton's research does not support the idea that GADM Zaarin is not a grand admiral; rather, Dr. Saxton opines that he was not, but cites no documentary evidence in favor of this interpretation of the evidence. This opinion is at variance with the official evidence of
The Essential Chronology and "Who's Who: Imperial Grand Admirals", both of which unambiguously confirm that Demetrius Zaarin did in fact hold the rank of grand admiral of the Galactic Empire.

All I know is that TIE Fighter, being the original source material, never referred to Zaarin as anything other than Admiral.

Did Zaarin appear at any point after TIE Fighter?

Nope- he was killed at the very end. Thrawn owned him. If you haven't played through it, the last mission debrief ends with the sentence "we await the news of our forces triumph at Endor ...."
Well
fuck if I had been there instead of chasing down traitors, we would've. No piece of shit Rebel fighter would've gotten near our reactor.

Careful - Rogue 9 will challenge you to a duel to the death via X-Wing vs TIE.

I think Zaarin was seen in X Wing Alliance but that takes place at the same time roughly as Tie Fighter.
Also wasn't Zaarin a Vice Admiral in the early TF missions and a full Admiral in the later ones? I might be getting confused with Thrawn though, its been 2-3 years since I last played TF.

Thrawn.
Also I always thought it was funny they still kept in the white zoot suit throughout the game.

Well, there is a possible explanation; look at Worf -- a Lt. Cmdr who is continually addressed as Commander. We have a similar situation here, in my humble opinion.

IIRC all admirals are addressed as "admiral" unless there reason to do othervise, also sith lords are addressed as "lord" while full title is dark lord of the Sith

Would be unfair. TIE's are crap and X-Wings own. Maybe if you give Vympel a TIE-Defender he can win.
AFAIK the chronology tells that Zaarin was a Grand Admiral until he imprisoned the Emperor and tried to take over the Empire. He was killed by Vader shortly afterwards.

Got some evidence to prove that? The books and movies have proved that TIE's can do pretty well against X-Wings, it just depends on the pilot.

Yeah, X-Wings have Shields, TIEs don't. The X-Wing books indicate TIE Pilots rarely survive combat long enough to get any real experience.

Actually it's shown that some TIEs do have shields and honestly after watching the films...shielding o the X-Wing still doesn't do much. I mean one salvo kills both of them.

That's most likely NR propaganda.

They are also hellva alot cheap to make than X-Wings(I'd love to hear some figures for how much cheaper its been said a few times in a few places in EU but never anything of how much cheaper)
I could see it if 1 X-Wing was the equivlant of 6 Ties it would make sense why Ties are a hellva alot more common that X Wings

IIRC X-Wing Alliance does not have Zarrin in a Grand Admiral's uniform. IMO Zarrin self promoted himself to Grand Admiral in his own fleet. Its a pity he hated the Rebels so much. His forces would have helped them greatly, but on his own he could never hope to defeat the Empire. I think Zarrin had the equivilant of a Sector Fleet at his disposal. I remember 5 ISDs alone under his command that we get to kill.
