Ewoks fed with Rebel propaganda?

When seeing ROTJ again, I tortured myself by watching the Ewok scenes. But when it came to C3PO's explanations to the Ewoks of the situation, I think there is something we oversaw before.

The Imperials had little to none contact with the Ewoks (clearly seen by thier suprise that the Ewoks even exist), and clearly not with the tribe of Wicket. So why would they suddenly go all to war and act as if they have a blood-feud with the Imperials?

Well: They were only told Rebel propaganda by C3PO.
Consider this:
-C3PO is programmed to help the Rebel cause. Help from the natives would be undoubtly good. So telling them propaganda to make them hate the Imperials is the best course.
-Also, C3PO maybe not even knows anything other than the Rebel propaganda. (Programming to make sure, that doids stay faithful to thier cause)
-The brutality of the Ewoks against the Imperials would only make sense when they hate they. And they would hate they if they were only told the worst of them.

I think the ah so clean Rebellion simply used them for thier cause, by feeding them with all thier lies and half-truths.

What do ya' think of my observation?

We can only accept this if we take the whole story of the films to be Rebel propaganda; Threepio and Artoo-Detoo are the viewpoint characters of the story. It is easier and more parsimonious to accept that Threepio told the Ewoks a story that was true from his point of view (remember also that the films and EU make a point of the fact that Threepio and Artoo have never had a memory wipe since the beginning of the first film).

We don't know how the Ewoks have dealt with the Imperials to date, but the fact that they were suspicious of Humans to the point that they were ready to cook and eat the Rebel commando team until their "God" ordered them not to and demonstrated "his" power to them strongly suggests that their interactions with humans up to that point have been decidedly unbeneficial to them.

Why would Ewoks care about Galactic politics? And why would the Rebels need to lie or twist the truth to them?

"The invaders on your soil are building the new moon you see. When finished, it will be able to destroy whole worlds. They have done this before, and they will do it again. They must be stopped. With your help, they can be."

They thought 3PO was a god, and thought that his compatriots were legendary heroes. After hearing their story they made them part of the tribe. You're assuming an inherent Ewok aversion to war. It's not there. They're a very brutal and war-like little race. "The enemy of our new tribe members is my enemy" would be sufficient justification.

Well...

The Ewoks were apparently evaluated as non-sapient, the garrison base probably didn't get fresh food, and scouts were constantly patrolling the area. It wouldn't have been the first time soldiers got some meat on the hoof, and even ungutted, an ewok is perfectly sized to be carried along on a speeder bike.

Scout: "Yo, Cookie! Got a new furball for ya! Shot it fresh, and this one's big."

Cook: "Arright, dump it on the prep table. And help yerself to a cup o' the good stuff."

Cook muttering to himself: "Now let's see...stewed, stirfried or roasted whole?"

Pure conjecture, of course.

Its obvious that Wicket knew the Smell of an Imperial. So they have had contact with them before and they obviously don't like them.

According to several EU sources, the Ewoks had a few skirmishs with the Imperials (as in biker scouts taking pot shots). Most of the traps used in the battle of Endor were traps they had for the Duloks and Gorax, they modified or moved to try to deal with the Empire.

Threepio merely cemented there worries

If one remembers the ROTJ novelisation, if not the radio drama, Leia was the one who finally managed to convince them to throw their supoprt when she said, do it for the trees, and attempted to bring Force philosophy into it. Then Wicket stood up and gave a wicked speech, about how their god had returned to give them choice, how the fire in the forest can threaten everyone, blah blah blah, how it is terrifying, but the Ewoks are brave.

If any of you have the ROTJ novelization, I suggest you read it. Wicket has a very stirring monologue that immediately follows Threepio's story (not kidding, its really good). Basically, they were waiting for their Golden God, and finding out that there is no "god" coming for them shook their faith and made them realize that life is all there is worth fighting for.

Or something. Seriously, read it. I may transcribe it here tonight.
