Lucas To Make 'Star Wars' Sequels?
George Lucas in case you didn't know - BoredShitless
Star Wars creator George Lucas could be poised to make three sequels to the original space opera trilogy, according to insiders at Lucasfilm. According to fan site Theforce.Net, employees at Lucas's company Industrial Light And Magic (ILM) have all been made to sign non-disclosure agreements to promise not to talk about the possibility of episode's seven, eight and nine being made. Now industry insiders are predicting the American Graffiti director will make the follow-ups, which pick up where 1983's Return Of The Jedi left off, despite insisting he would never be lured into filming them. A posting on the site says, "You didn't hear this from me, but you might be curious as to why everyone at ILM just signed NDA's saying that they will not discuss Star Wars episodes 7, 8, or 9. Since they're not being made, why the NDA's? Of course, since when has Lucas been consistent?"

The end is nigh.

Hrm. I don't see how it could be done. The OT actors are too old, it'd have to be set sometime after. Maybe they were made to sign NDAs so they didn't embarass Lucas with unsubstantiated talk?

Why? How old is Mark Hamil? And incidentally, a possible sequel trilogy needn't focus on the OT characters, but their offspring. Jaina, Jacen, Anakin Solo, Ben Skywalker etc...

I'm actually lookingforward to this. I would like to see some EU stuff in living color, as it were. Like the Vong, for one. Also, if they do a New Jedi Order trilogy they can use the old OT actors since they'll be about the right age and get some new ones for the kids. It actually could work to their advantage that they waited so long. Anyway, thats my take.

I hope this is just a rumor. I haven't been impressed with the prequels so far, so I don't think I'll be impressed with sequels to the OT either.

if this this is true, they might do a NJO three parter and focus on Jaina Jacen Etc, and the fact the vong would just kick ass on the big screen, showing how technophobes should be done...

The NJO could work. The actors are older, but so are the characters by about the same amount of time. But its possibly a bit to eppic to put into three movies and somewhat too focused for the mass market like the SW movies.

True, Very true
and if George Lucas would just step aside and let someone else direct...

Not to take the wind out of anyone's sails, but GL isn't going to have his creativity stifled by the EU. It'll be completely ignored but for a few nods.
And as I said, this is all unsubstantiated rumor of which nothing will come anyway.

I´m pretty certain ROTS will be his grande finale, from which he´ll move on to other things (I like the sound of the "non-linear small films" he talked about a while back, would be fun to see something contrast SW so sharply.
)
Anyway, if this ever gets made, Lucas probably won´t be directing, only producing. A friend of mine commented that even though Ford has said time and time again he won´t have anything to do with SW anymore, he´s trying desperately not to look old and washed-out, so he´ll definetly want to be in it now! DO IT FOR CALISTA!

I hope that the report about the NDA is true. While I think it's highly unlikely that there will be more Star Wars movies made, there has been much talk about a live-action television series on various sites. I think that's more likely.

TV series and DVD stories are the way to go, I think. Even big-wig insiders have talked about such projects. Bring´em on, I say.

Didn't he already deny this in a big way?
IIRC he said he didn't want SW to be like Star Trek.

No thanks. No SW TV. I don't want to see it beyond the films.

Mark Hamil on Mad TV recently. Fat and old, he looks more like "Blue Anakin" Form RotJ now...degredation in old age (Fat, ugly) Seems to run in the skywalker family.
I don't think he would cut it in a new film.

If he just ate right and exercised he wouldn't be so damn fat.

But do you think he could make it in a film? Personally, If he COULD lose the weight, and train hard again, I would pay BIG bucks to see him as a jedi master, I would pay even more to actually see him fight, especially if he hasn't forgotten all the cool fencing stuff he learned from back in the day. Luke>yoda. how cool would it be to see him effortlessly fling columns of enemies away, tossing X-wings into formations, mind tricking...man....just awesome.

I don't think SW should go beyond Ep VI. Several reasons, because the actors are too far gone, so it'd have to be many years ahead, after they're dead, probably, and even so- what story is there to tell? As far as I'm concerned, Revenge of the Sith will complete the Skywalker story arc.

It's just contracts for in case Lucas changes his mind. It's neither more nor less. I wouldn't expect anything to come out of it.
On a side note, Firefox is overrated. I just lost three months of bookmarks.. managed to restore most of them, but suddenly IE doesn't look so bad anymore.

Yeah, you'll think overrated when you spend two hours sifting through your registry trying to weed out spyware that autoinstalls where spybot gets hung up on it. Mozilla forever, yo.

I don't get this. Why is it you have an article like this spring up from out of nowhere and all the sudden you guys are like, they'll start doing the EU shit. WTF? Lucas doesn't care for the EU. He's stated many a time the only thing he reads Star Wars is the comics because thier a quick read. That's why you see a double sided sabre, and Shadows was made into a comic as well, that's where the Outrider, and the swoop in IV come from. So very little would even come from the EU. The NDAs are probably to get Lucas/ILM employees to shut up about 7,8,9 where they keep speculating and causing a bunch of shit to be stirred up.

Whoa, Hamill bulked up a bit since last I saw him, back in 98 or so on Third Rock.

Whatever. There will be 6 Star Wars movies, no more, no less, followed by a catastrophic wave of merchandise to round out the series. There will be some crappy EU books for some time to come, I imagine, and then it will be done.

He wasn't very fat in Comic Book The Movie. He would just need to train I guess.
