A new OT ICS?

Post by Vympel »

I thought that it would be cool if, to coincide with the DVD release of the OT, they bring out a new SW ICS. List all the OT movie ships you want to see the innards of- and Saxton give the gigatonnage for :). Here's my list

Luke's Speeder
Sentinel-class Landing Craft ("look sir, droids!" scene)
Rebel Transport ("the first transport is away")
Executor "Super" Star Destroyer
TIE Bomber
TIE Interceptor
Bespin Skyhopper
Medical Frigate
Lambda-class Shuttle (Tyderium)
Home One or Liberty
B-Wing
A-Wing
Death Star II

I think I've exhausted the possibilities :) Regardless- who commisioned the ICS in the first place? Is there anyway we, the fans, could make a new OT version a reality?

All I really care about is a cross-section of the Executor- the rest is padding :)

I suggested this to Dr. Saxton some time ago in an e-mail exchange we had about his AOTC ICS. With one for each film we could probably get every vehicle done, and if anyones going to do it I think its got to be him. I don't know whether he needs to get permission to make an ICS on his own, but LFL would probably be convinced to allow it because of his superb work on the AOTC ICS.

They really need one for the Nebulon B, and atleast one of the Mon Cal ships.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

I agree with all of the vehicles you mentioned. But what about a OT location / worlds of SW ICS (like TPM one)? I want one for AOTC too!

Here's my list:

ANH:

Mos Eisley (cantina and dock areas)
Death Star 1 ...duh!
The Yavin 4 Rebel Base (with comprehensive battle summary)
Alderaan

TESB:

Hoth base (complete with a system map showing the flight of the MF, comprehensive battle summary, with an inset map of the sector showing where Anoat and Bespin are).

Cloud city
Dagobah (must include the darkside cave)
The Rendevous Point

ROTJ:

Jabba's Palace
Endor Base (even the spew! Ewok village for sake of historical clarity)
DS2
Sullust (the rebel fleet in orbit)
Imperial Center

Just Because

Mon Calamari
Byss
Kuat
Corellia

Any other suggestions?

Even the great saxton needs artists to make an ICS.

Maybe not an ICS, but rather a large 'technical manual', written by Saxton (and force George Lucas to help out, not that he would...), including all the ICS pictures, plus still shots from the movies and new blueprints for all ships, vehicles, weapons... etc.

That would be the greatest book ever written.

That would be cool. However ICS books do take a lot of work on the behalf of more people then just the author. Really the illustrators are the key. Approval and funding would likely not be that hard to get, but time would be.

I'd say Home one and Executor should be the foldouts, and maybe the Death Star II. Liberty could fit on the normal two pages.

I like at least one more ICS for the original trilogy, one for Episode three, and for the prequels to fill in some blanks and then at least one for Dark Empire and The Black Fleet Crisis and another one or two for the NJO.

I'd like to see a cross section of the Neb B, but it would be a low priority to men since comprehensive deck plans already exist, and they don't seem to have any real technical problems.

Ive always wanted a more complete ICS for the OT. The RToJ ICS is what I would really want since it would have all of the Cap ships.

Was Sullust not a decoy and the fleet gathered elsewhere? I have a hard time believing the emperor would willfully ignore such a great oppertunity tosmash the while rebel fellt and save any damage to his Death Star.

Yes I'd like this big huge hulking techmanual, like the Essential guides.
I think we should like make a second edition of those things and have the old ones voided as the new ones come out.

The one for TPM was pretty well done.

The chunk of fleet was saw massed was very small, much smaller then what fought at Endor. Most likely the Rebels gathered in a number of small groups, each two or three destroyer rate ships. These groups might have been spread over hundreds of light-years around Sullust, but by carefully timing there jumps all arrived at almost the same time.

The Empire likely could not nab all the formations at once, and hitting a couple might scare off the rest of them from the Death Star trap.

I'd prefere a tech book. It would have to be too big for an ICS.

Sea Skimmer: The EU universally says the fleet massing at Sullust was the fleet that assaulted Endor. Sullust was apparently the roundezvous point.

The fleet we saw was not in orbit of a planet and was seen making only one jump. However later shots showed many ships which where not seen in this force and the EU and novel give the fleet's strength as dozens of cruisers. Thus it could only be massing at Sullust in general terms, perhaps in Sullust sector. Remember the Emperors quote was the fleet was massing "near Sullust"

What I have theorized fit the evidence quite well.

Additionally, there do seem to be more ships in the closing shot of the fleet moving away in the special edition.

I was merely pointing out that the Sullust fleet was no diversionary operation.

Then what's your point? I never said the fleet we saw was a decoy.

I said what we saw must have been one of serval parts dispersed around Sullust for there own protection until they made the jump in to attack.

I'd prefer something more like a technocal manual, but with the cross-sections. I'd like to see the Executor and Cloud City, along with a Mon Cal Ship, the Nebulon-B, The Imperial Shuttle, Coruscant, the A-Wing and the B-Wing, and more on the Star.

Cloud city would be better handled with another ICS for Locations. The Episode 1 one was fairly good, don’t know if they did one for Ep 2.
