I like the German one, but the English version will always rock the hardest.

Well German always sounds harsher and more evil, but I still thing old JEJ rocks

I have to go with the English but German DOES sound pretty damn eveeel.

It kicks ass in German, but I have to go with Mr. Jones on this one. If the two were combined...

The English version is the best.

The German version is quite evil-sounding, but doesn't seem to have as much emotional tone. It also suffers a little due to the heavy and harsh consonant nature of the German language, which is especially aparent when he starts talking really fast and ends up with that sort of "gargling" effect. Though part of that probably has to due with time constraints of the whole dubbing thing.

I personally think the French version is the best sounding of the three other than the original English. Vader not only sounds evil enough, but the actor seems to almost perfectly replicate the original's emotional tone. Both actors in the French version seem excellent in their performances.

As for the Spanish version, while I personally am not very fond of how Spanish sounds, I can still tell that the performance is quite good. The only thing that really weakens it is the fairly tepid modification to Vader's voice. It really just sounds like it was recorded on a cassette tape.

I choose France, from a tie with English. There was just something sinister in his voice there and more imposing.

Spanish version sounded like garbage and the German makes him sound like he is rambling in a quick pace.

Ew, spanish version is crap compared to the one (non-spain) from the OT, and I specially mean the voices. Other than that, the filtering sucks... from all 4 is the only one you wouldn't guess comes from Vader's mask, just some regular spanish guy.

The french one is ok, but it sounds kinda detached, like they're not actually there dueling or something.

German, I couldn't understand shit. Sounded pretty evil and nasty but they didn't really click to me.

English, well, duh.

English: James Earl Jones is the shit, 'nuff said.
German: Very evil-sounding, but he sounds a bit higher-pitched than he should.
French: James Earl Jones speaks French?
Spanish: Crap. Sounds like a cheap tape player.

I really want to hear what this clip sounds like in the Japanese dub. I can imagine it now...

If he sounded something like Kiel Lorenz, that'd be awesome.

Wait, Vader's the cool voiced bad guy: he'd HAVE to sound something like Kiel...

Although the German one is nice...the French one is closer to Jones. Still, English kicks ass!

lol those are hilarious. Especially listening to them try to duplicate lukes "Nooooooo!!" or in the the case of German "Neiiinn!"

Maybe its just me, but Star Wars just seems like it was made to be an english only kinda thing. Hearing the lines done in other languages makes it seem like a joke if not really weird.

The original is always the best, but out of these dubbed versions the French one is easily my favourite.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but why dub at all? I'm glad I live in a country where dubbing isn't accepted by the movie-going audience. I can't imagine listening to a overdubbed Vader with some stupid Swedish actor ruining JEJ's voicework.
But I guess there are people in some countries that prefers going to movies and listen to the dialogue in their own native language (although I can't understand why).

Nobody can ever dethrone the king - Jones was the first to do it, and the one to do it the best. The German and French renditions were more or less level - the German dub sounded more evil (though it's probably due more to social conditioning than anything else) while the French one seemed to nail the emotions quite accurately - but the Spanish cut sounded like it was coming through a suped-up drive-through speaker.

Yarr, I still wanna hear t' Japanese dub version, especially if he be soundin' like Kiel Lorenz.

JEJ all the way. The rest are poor imitations of true evil.

French V sounds the coolest

I'm ashamed to say the French Vader sounds the most evil. It sound like the gutteral ramblings of some long-forgotten hellbeast stuck in the corner of the lake of fire.
