Hidalgo does us a favor.

Databank wrote:The last generation of Super-class Star Destroyers, including the Eclipse and the Sovereign featured gravity well generators.
By implying the "Super-class" includes the Soveriegn and Eclipse, he implicitly makes it synonymous with "Super Star Destroyer" and not a class-designation. In other words, he made it meaningless such that Executor-class as a descriptor for ships sharing the Executor hullform and design is not contradicted by anything, anywhere.

Couldn't have been on purpose, but I like him when he's inadvertently helping our cause.

He means the word 'class' really means 'level', like 'cruiser-class' or something. Oh, I get it. Thanks for clearing that up, Hidalgo. I know you hate Saxton, but thank you anyway.

I read the thread title and though "Heart attack?"

I didn't. You see, if it was something that good, it'd be on the title. If Hidalgo had a stroke and died, the title would be "REJOICE! HIDALGO BITES THE DUST!" or something.

This place has mass genocide by BDZ advocated as a valid tactic; has discussed the pros and cons of completely eradicating the middle east with nuclear weapons; talks about sodomizing people with railguns; where we have a thread dedicated to tasteless unPC wisecracks; and had Raycav as a memeber for many months. But my statement of what I honestly thought when I read the title of a thread about a person who has shown us nothing but contempt, who lacks any form of intergity, to whom ethics and professionalism are foreign concepts, who is slimier than an eel and referring to as a weasel would be an insult to animals is in the "tasteless" zone?

If so, fine; I was out of line. But I would sincerely appreciate an explanation as to how that crossed the boundaries and how the others didn't.

Otherwise, here's some Tobasco, maybe that will help.

Hidalgo? Isn't that the movie where that guy who plays Aragon races across the Arabian Peninsula on a horse?

Pablo Hidalgo is someone who works on the Star Wars official site, and previously worked for West End Games.

So much of a douche, he won't even allow himself to be seen on SD.Net, for surely terrible things would be done to his photo then. :)

Yeah, but that's hypothetical vs talk, no one ever discussed it as a good thing in any RL context. To my knowledge, anyway.

And I found those advocating it tasteless too, to say the least.

Also tasteless.

Not in the same league as potentially celebrating some guy's death though is it?

After which he was banned for a gargantuan lack of taste. :)

Because celebrating that some guy was dead based on his attitude to our segment of SW fandom just seems excessive to me. And I'm not talking about you specifically, Kaz more so. "REJOICE" just struck me as excessive. There's very few people I'd really wish dead, and some SW fan who we think is an idiot isn't one of them. Now, of course, a smiley or something wouldn't have drawn my comment, and it ain't like I'm censoring the thread or anything, just giving my opinion.

I meant that more as a joke than anything else. I guess I should have stuffed in a smiley.

I don't see how my statement can be construed to say I seriously wish him dead, especially in the SDN environment. However, I doubt anybody here would be really unhappy if he really died. And really, if Hidalgo died, the title would most certainly not be "Hidalgo does us a favor." It probably won't say "Rejoice" if we are serious, but it might be "Hidalgo's dead."

Your point is recieved. However, I'd like to point out I never said I hoped he was dead.

A while back, I asked Pablo in the Q&A Drop Box if there will be any updates to the Data Bank now that the correct size and designation of Executor and the sizes of both DSI (from the original Cross-Sections book) and DSII (from the Inside the Worlds of Classic Star Wars) has been published in official literature. There haven't been any updates for quite a while now, but I doubt that he will answer that.

Tlaks down to technical fans, goes on other website (dark horse one when this happened) and lets loose long flaming rants about us and Dr. Saxton, uses his power to shut down argument threads and tells us to write him if we seriously wnat to complain but refuses to provide and address and has those threads locked as well...

I think Poe has a page dedicated to this shit.

I of course knew about the other stuff, but this? What a moron! Ender, do you have the link to the thread(s) over at Dark Horse where he did that?

Ok, so I found what Pablo said over at the Dark Horse forums, it can be found in the following thread:
+http://www.darkhorse.com/boards/viewtop ... 2dee539a12

Some goodies:
When clearly learned men take incredible amounts of effort to tell me that a Super Star Destroyer is x-meters long based on careful astrolabe-confirmed data gleaned from their Sony triniton, I ask them to explain the scientific principal that holds the yellow letters together at the start of the movie. Or why, if the Empire was so adamant that the Death Star was a secret project, would they allow it to be written in a title crawl for any farmboy to read with a pair of macrobinoculars?

Of course, they yell at me for being facetious and introducing all sorts of logical fallacies to their oh-so-proper college-rules debate.
and
And if you're writing a cross sections book or anything that pretends to be a technical manual, for God's sake STOP!
That's nice things to say to the fans...

Yeah too bad LFL tell DK otherwise.

What a wanker. How moronic do you have to be to compare "its plainly not a five times ratio" to "look at the yellow title sequence."

As a cinema major fairly well versed in the field of film theory, Pablo's statements right there piss me off a very great deal.

Anyone who does not understand the concept of diegetics is frankly a God damn fucking idiot in my eyes. Even using that type of argument faceseously is idiotic.

The stupid, stupid fuck...
