2nd SE ESB: TLs going NDF ?

Post by The Nomad »

Before flaming me for my stupidity, please know that until yesterday I hadn't seen ESB in a decade ( my mom overwrote the VHS with one of her chick flicks  ), so my memories of what it was before renovation are a bit sketchy. Now, I've got the DVDs and watched that movie first.

Were the asteroid explosions the same as in the original edition ? Cause in my memory it was a fucking neat explosion. On the DVD it looks like the asteroids just go 'poof' with no vapour at all and strange SFX ( I've not watched it in slow motion yet ).
Were those the same SFX ? Because to me, it certainly doesn't look like DET ( it's more of an intuitive statement, but it reminds me of phasers a lot ), and perhaps some Trekkies are gonna start using this.

EDIT: I'm trying to get things clear : in my memories of the original movies ( and even on screenshots I've seen on SDnet ), the asteroid vapourization looked vastly more realistic than it does on the DVD. Do you think so ?

Could just be faulty memory syndrome. ; )

Though some of the effects look a lot more fakey once you can see all the details with the cleaned up film. Not always, but in a few cases at least.

Yup... probably that  .
Just wanted to be sure :) .

Still, it looks very strange for a DET event :? ...

No, it doesn't. The only oddity is its speed, which is simply indicative of the sheer volume of energy applied
