The Jedi figther from ROTS looks a lot like the Sith fighter from KOTOR. well is this similarity deliberete (probaly Palpatine told to make that way)?

I would venture nothing more than a contrived coincidence, because they really don't look much like each other besides in general form.

The Sith fighter is actually copied from Mara Jade's ship in the Mysteries of the Sith expansion to Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight.

well under SOD the reverse might be true, unless Jade's ship is over 4000 years old. (real world explanation for the shape of the jedi fighter is that GL thinks it looks cool).

Just because A came before B doesn't automatically mean that B is based on A.

This is the kind of thin ice that I'm rather cautious to step onto.

true but when A and B look nearly identical (Jade's ship and sith fighter) there is probality based on each others (at least in terms of apperance).
