Wasn't Shadows of the Empire between those two?

The only that tried was(aside from a variety of Marvel comics) was Splinter's of the Mind's Eye.

Damn that book was just plain bad, easily KJA level.Stormbringer wrote:Plus since it was written before them it fits very poorly with TESB and ROTJ.IG-88E wrote:Several cop-outs, a forced plot, bad dialogue, and an overall poor effort.NF_Utvol wrote:why is that?

To be fair, a lot of it's just because it was written before there was any real mythos established. He didn't know the universe or characters ery well.Sea Skimmer wrote:Damn that book was just plain bad, easily KJA level.Stormbringer wrote: Plus since it was written before them it fits very poorly with TESB and ROTJ.

Yes, that is true. I don't really fault the author for it, but the fact remains that the book was very very bad.Stormbringer wrote:To be fair, a lot of it's just because it was written before there was any real mythos established. It would have been a passable book if hadn't been contradicted by later stuff. But that's a common failing for a lot of the early books, a poorly defined Star Wars universe.Sea Skimmer wrote:Yes, that is true. No. Luke and Leia just HAPPEN to be thrown into a cell with two Yuzzem? Luke HAPPENS to speak the language? The mining colony HAPPENS to have Yuzzem and not another pair of aliens? Bullshit. There's too many coincidences in that book to make the plot beleivable.

It's not that hard to believe. The world could fit their natural habitat or something.IG-88E wrote: No. Luke and Leia just HAPPEN to be thrown into a cell with two Yuzzem? Yeah, but Luke was a hick from one of the most backwater planets in the galaxy. What are the odds of him speaking that particular language? Rodian I could understand, or Huttese, but not Yuzzem (unless there happens to be a source saying Yuzzem were common on Tatooine, in which case I will formally grant the point).Stormbringer wrote:It's not that hard to believe. Yes, that's possible, but when combined with all the others, it makes for a lame plot. And it's besides the point.Stormbringer wrote:It's not that hard to believe. I've never read it. Is it really KJA bad? I hesitate to label things KJA bad because that's so harsh.

I give it some leeway given it was written before canon was even fully written...and still KJA has come up with more pathetic coincidences than SotME did.
