Canon question

Are the RPGs (WEG and D20) considered canon as long as they do not conflict with the movies?
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

Official. Which means they're treated as fact until disproven by canon. The Dark wrote:Are the RPGs (WEG and D20) considered canon as long as they do not conflict with the movies?
Toys and models generally have no standing.Vertigo1 wrote:What about specs given with model kits?
I've got a copy of the assembly instructions for the X-Wing (by ERTL) which lists two figures for proton torpedo yields. (250kT for firing two smaller pro torps out of the side launchers on the nose, and 500kT for a bigger one fired out of the tip of the nose.) I wasn't aware of a launcher in the tip of the nose though...

As far as I know, the Models have no official status. And I know the toys don't.
True, which is why I'll only use it in areas that aren't covered in canon. Their ImpStar is also way undergunned, but it does confirm the 3 squadrons aboard an MC-80 and the 2 on a Neb-B (as if those needed confirming).consequences wrote:I'd have to ay that any figures derived from d20 are incredibly suspect, their capital ship to starfighter scaling makes me want to retch.
Yeah, its the "ROTJ" version. I also have the old ISD MKI.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:No, he's refering to the old AMT/ERTL plastic model X-Wing kit.

I didn't have any idea how old they were. I don't keep up with that kind of stuff. I was just making a guess.SirNitram wrote:Unless you're Illuminatus Primus...Spanky The Dolphin wrote:No, he's refering to the old AMT/ERTL plastic model X-Wing kit.

But yes, WEG typically has some interesting info. I'm typically feared because I use it to derive new firepower estimates.
Not as much in the Revised rulebook. DR30 and 40 point defense guns will really screw over X-Wings in the new system. If every torpedo from 2 X-Wings hit and did maximum damage then the SD would (I think) be destroyed, which is definitely wrong, but that discounts the ability to angle shields to meet an attack and to recharge shields, as well as the point defense guns being able to shoot down torpedoes (and possibly the X-Wings). Still underpowered, but not as bad as 1st edition.consequences wrote:What I mean, is that a couple of X-wings are a serious threat to an Impstar without fighter support. Capital ships are entirely to fragile under the d20 system.
We need a stick with those yotton level ISD calculations.SirNitram wrote:Unless you're Illuminatus Primus...Spanky The Dolphin wrote:No, he's refering to the old AMT/ERTL plastic model X-Wing kit.
