Anyone ever read the novelization of a PT film before they saw the movie?

No, but I might make an exception here. Matt Stover is certainy well-equipped when it comes to not only getting in a character's mind, but screwing with that mind as he proved with the NJO's Traitor and the Clone Wars novel Shatterpoint. Should be interesting to see Anakin's fall through Stover's writing/POV.

If I not, then I'll most likely still go with James Luceno's lead-in novel, Labyrinth of Evil.

I'd be tempted to buy and read it before the movie comes out. But I doubt I could read it before the movie gets here.

Nah, I almost did it with Phantom Menace but steered otherwise.

Besides Novels I've learned have a tendancy to whet the appetite, but never give the same charge as the movies do. Usually the writers never get the pace of the lightsaber battles correct.

I read the novelization for TESB before I saw the movie, and ruined the biggest suprise in movie history for myself...

I read the AOTC book before the movie came out. I couldn't resist. I don't really think it spoiled anything, because the cool parts of the movie were mainly the visual effects.

No. I don't particularly like reading novelisations of films. It just seems a little redundant. There's a difference between a novelisation and adaptions (i.e. the book which the film was an adaption of). So in other words I won't read AOTC or ROTS or whatever, but I would read Hannibal or Silence of the Lambs (which was when I discovered film adaptions suck).

I always read novelizations before I watch films. I don't like surprises and I like to get all the little things they can't translate visually.

Considering I have a fair amount of knowledge of what's going to happen in ROTS, I'll wait for the movie.

Speaking of which, did anyone else hear the first trailer for ROTS is available to Hyperspace members on November the 3rd, and will be in theatres on the 5th?

Sweet, how does one find out what movies the trailer is playing in front of?

Whichever big film premieres that week would be a good guess- I know in the US that its The Incredibles.

This Thursday it's Hero here. I'd wager that would be it.

I read the novelization for TPM around the same time the movie came out. It really doesn't take much out of watching the movie since there are things that are different (Things that take up a page in the book never show up in the movie, a paragraph in the book becomes a 5-minute scene, etc.), but I'll probably wait until I see the movie before buying the book this time, because I don't want any possible suprises ruined.

According to SW.com, the ROTS teaser trailer comes out Nov 4th for hyperspace members, the 5th in theaters (showing with The Incredibles) and Nov 8th for non-hyperspace members (on starwars.com).

The site also says to "look for" the teaser on television the evening of Nov 4th...

I bought & read the TPM novel awhile after seeing the movie. It was okay. I read the AOTC novelisation a long-time later at my local library. ; ) I don't plan to spoil the movie by reading the novel first. But I'll probably read it someday, just for kicks.
