What do you think of Darth Sidious wielding a lightsabre? He looks like one vicious, scary freak. Do you like the thought of him fighting with a lightsabre (almost certainly Yoda) or not?

I'd prefer him to be a shadowy figure off in the background to be honest, manipulating, getting everyone else to do his will, I really dont see the need for him to pick up a lightsabre, and certainly given that he has to think to remember Yoda in the Rotj novelisation, I dont think he's got any business fighting yoda.

I want him to ditch the robes, for practicality reasons really. Look at TMP, Maul does so, simply because tripping over those big, heavy sith robes isn't cool.
Also, until recently I always thought he'd transcended the need for such things.

The novelization has been contradicted before.

The lightsabre is firmly placed as being a part of a Jedi. I´m pretty sure the Sith, who are more prone to violence, would be even more attached to instruments of death. Especially since lightsabre-combat is considered above usual Force-battle (see Yoda vs. Dooku).

Honestly I see it as a bizarre kiddifcation of the whole "What's power?".
A demonstration of power can be shown in much more subtle ways then having Yoda and Palpatine look like crack addled children bouncing around in a CGI fest for the masses.
Yoda lifting the X-Wing vs him going apeshit is still my most pertinent thought in this. When he lifted the X-Wing, he demonstrated how much Luke had to learn, how much Luke didn't know, and how much power he truly had.
Palpatine did the same with the Lightning effects.
Them dancing around like speed monkies on crack is not exactly the same effect.

Yoda gets his ass handed to him on a stick in ROTS and goes to hide in a swamp. 20 years later he teaches Luke a different approach. It´s called "character development".

Did I say what it was, or are you putting words into my mouth to justify your personal like of the way it's being told?

I´m just pointing out that you seem to be looking at the story from the wrong end. "If he´s subtle in Ep. V, then he should be subtle in Ep. III."
It´s possible Yoda´s view on power and wisdom changes in the 20 years that go by, so that he no longer considers a show of power to lie in a direct fight, but in a test of wills. (Which ties in with his advice to Luke before the Cave of Evil.)

Quite so. But that was because Yoda and Dooku had rough parity. Palpatine shouldn't, really.
Maybe this is an excecution, rather than a fight. It'd be kinda cool to see him have all the Jedi Council, barring Yoda, brought in, and forced to kneel one after another to be beheaded by him. That look on his face would really work as evil then...

I think most of the Council are on different worlds when they get slaughtered.
And I´m not sure why Sidious fights Yoda either, but I do believe it happens in the Jedi Temple after Anakin´s big massacre. Yoda returns to find everyone dead, sees a tape of Anakin (or Vader, as I´m sure he´s called by then) doing the deed, and then runs into Sidious himself. And Sidious might just be flexin´his skills. Like doing an extreme-sport on the eve of his victory.

I'm sure if Sidious wanted them taken alive he could have them taken intact and brought to Coruscant. A few hundred stun bolts would get even the best Jedi Knight.

True. We´ll see if any Jedi bigwigs are alive at the end of Ep. III to become Sidious´ piñatas, though I doubt it.

Even Mace Windu would be good for that, though I preffer the idea of Mace being disintegrated by Boba Fett.

It also sheds new light on ROTJ Yoda's line "Do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor."
The image of Sidious posed with the lighsaber, to be frank, scared me for a moment; looks less like the wizened, hooded Emperor we all love from ROTJ, but like a vampiric Sith Lord.

If that actually happens, which thankfully it won't, I'll probably personally shoot myself in the foot.

Yeah. I know Lucas has other plans for Mace. If I had my way with star wars, it'd be far more brutal. And no, you'd never have seen Boba Fett as a kid. And by disintegrate, this would be Boba's flamethrower, with ICS yeilds. Vaped flesh, melted bone, generally very much more realistic.... The clone war scenes would have actually had people... injured... in battle

.
A shame it's a kid's film, really.

Therefore, be thankful that we don't have to know what a movie smells like...

Can anyone get a screencap of those 2 capital ships laying into each other? If not can any one identify the type?

The one on the top is the new Venator Star Destroyers, while the other I think is I think something like a Techno Union ship, or something...

Why engage so damned close though?
Looks fantastic and now the dreadnought is well and truly canon.
