I only know as much of the subject as what's been told on
sw.com but this seemed to me as a far greater tread than the Rebel Alliance could ever be to the Empire.
Suppose the rebels get crushed at Endor. Palpy returns to Corscant and the DSII gets completed. Suddenly, IG-88's mind takes over the DSII and every droid ever created by his factory on Mechis III rebels. What happens?

I'd see him taking the DSII to Coruscant, or another core world.

I see a massive ion cannon sitting around at Coruscant, waiting for this to happen.
The Emperor does have foresight, you know.

Stavro handled this well.
Lord vader smote him after the battle of Endor.

How big is IG-88's droid army? It doesnt really say at sw.com but it must be a huge number. And there will probably a good amount on Coruscant also.
A massive ion cannon? Proof that its there?

Well, for his army, there would be pretty much every droid made after he took over. But anyway, his army really doesn't get off the ground if you've read the YJK second storyline, basically the place went way downhill fast. But as for the Ion cannon, it's really possible that one was installed on Coruscant, probably a lot of them with all the other things Palpatine installed, such as planetary defense shields that put the rest to shame and the Golan stations that were beyond the equivelant of Star Destroyers, not to mention if someone pulls the mirror trick and melts a big chunk of the DSII, and Mechis III didn't build the construction droids.
If the superlaser would blast the planet, they'd have the planets computer core salvageable though.
