This is more outthere even for me but i started thinking.
Now we all know that with the PT alot of EU and older OT material may have been counterdicted. Now give me your ears and ..eyes and ill tell you a tale.
Is it quite possible that Lucas' teachings are the real events told by an old wise one and the EU is just tall tales. told by people from generation to generation about what happend durring and after the events in Lucas' telling of Star Wars historical events. (OR Visa-versa). In this case its always common for one source to be counterdicted by the other.
In my new opinion this will explain alot
and according to theforce.net timetales before it started to be rebuilt had "jokingly" stated that when Luke was old he sent the history of his galaxy to space and it landed in George's backyard in the early 1970's

Actually, we take the view that the Star Wars films are "truth" in the sense that they're direct observation, while the EU is history, since it's literature.

Agreed, though you do pose an interesting viewpoint, Tychu.

thanx. I dont know but i have to say i have a hefty library(wow cant spell it) of EU..
cough 65ish and the EU books always give like a mythical feeling to me the reader. The movies are more of like a History Channel decumenary feeling that is giving you hardcore facts.
Also coming to the end of the NJO i always thought it was going to end with either Jacen or Anakin waking up in a cold sweat before the Vong Invasion was suppose to start. I mean all those force visions of the balance in the galaxy always seemed like a dream turning into a nightmare thing[/i]

That would have actually made the series something more readable.

Isn't that the most common "view? We are historians, looking into something that happened a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away. Minor, obscure events that happen or are exagerated may had been laughed at in "contemporary" SW times, but in our age, with the limited amount of historical data available, taken as truth until later excavations and archaelogical research shows otherwise.

There isn't really that much EU that contradicts the OT. Maybe the occasional sentence, but very few.
