How human-like the Human replica droids are?

How human-like the Human replica droids are? Are they droids with human like body or do they look, feel and act almost like humans?

They can perform all the bodily functions of humans-- eat and excrete. One presumes they're also quite capable of intercourse. If you wanted to go ALL the way, you could perhaps seed female replicas with ova in cold storage. The men won't have to worry about sperm, just jizz.

I wonder... is this the future of pr0n, maybe? ;) :P

I thinking more Jedi killing Assasins and bodyguards (like Gen Grievous bodyguards, but looking like humans).

shadows of the empire states xizor's assassin droid is quite capable of all functions, and that he used her as such.

I seem to recall from Shadows of the Empire that they are capable of fooling basic sensors but a more intense scan will reveal them.

Sort of like the Cylons of the new Battlestar Galactica, its yet to be firmly established just where the human ends and the machine begins. Just that human replicas are a sort of hybrid.

I have allways gotten the impression they are fully mechanical , but covered in synt flesh (the stuff Luke's mechanical arm's covered with).

I'm pretty sure that's the case.

Different HRDs are different.

Guri was a highly sophisticated cyborg. But she seems to be at least somewhat organic, as per SOTE: Evolution.

There's an Art of Revenge feature on a high-class "attendance" droid that looks after the Coruscant upper-tier in Corsucant. Metallic finish, but she looked hot. :)

I always assumed the human replica droids to be sort of like the androids in the Alien movies. They seemed to be capable of most human biological functions.

Are there other examples of HRDs aside from Guri and the Synth-Droids from "Planet of Twilight"?

In the NJO Force Heretic II: Refugee, Prime Minister Cundertol of Bakura, secretly makes a pact with the Ssi-ruuk, to entech him, and place his life-essence into an HRD, thus making him effectively immortal. His plans go awry when the P'w'eck turn against the Ssi-ruuk and stop their conquest of Bakura. Cundertol escapes Jaina Solo but his droid body is soon after dismembered by Yuuzhan Vong who had been posing as Ssi-ruu.

There was also that one Crystal Star book, I think it was, where the husband of somebody had their mind pattern transferred to a robot or something as such, can't remember.

IIRC there were a couple in the Goodwin / Williamson comic strips and were decoys for an Imperial governor and his daughter. Luke discovered them upon crash landing on Hoth some time before the rebels relocated there. It could be said that Echo Base was the HRDs hideout and was expanded upon by Alliance engineers.

Let's not forget where the original HRD came from:
theforce.net Book Review of Queen of the Empire wrote:The Alliance has a Chadra-Fan scientist build a droid that looks exactly like a human, but it shoots lasers from it's eyes. They make one that looks exactly like Princess Leia, which then proceeds to blow a hole in the scientist's chest with a nasty stare. Han, Leia, and the droids then take the scientist back to his homeplanet for surgery.

Now that that's out of the way, some amusement:
Unfortunately, the planet has been ravaged by an enviornmental disaster. (Every book in this series has a loose environmental theme. They saving the whales, saving the rain forest, air pollution, and toxic waste.) Care to guess what environmental threatens to lay waste to an entire planet? Burping and farting bovines. No, I swear I'm not kidding. The methane they produce creates a greenhouse effect. Oh, man. After that romantic stop off, Han and Leia decide to elope with the droids to Hologram Fun World. Han, you romantic devil, you. However, their wedding plans are ruined by Zorba the Hutt and the return of Trioculus.

The Bad

Scott:

Where to start? How about with this quote? It's discussing why the entire planet is covered by thick clouds:

"It's because of the Lactils. They've got so many of those smelly milk-producing creatures on this planet, the situation is now totally out of control." Han checked his Navicomputer to figure out the best angle for the Millennium Falcon's approach. "It may be good for Chad, from a business point of view, that they're now the dairy capital of the galaxy, but no one ever stopped to consider that Lactils exhale enormous quantities of methane gas. And too much methane is bad news for the upper atmosphere."

You tell it, Han! Why did the Emperor have to use a Death Star when he could have used burping Lactils to destroy a planet? How about this one now?

"Neither the passengers aboard the Millennium Falcon nor those on the Zorba Express had any way of knowing that at that very moment a large Imperial spaceship was orbiting the planet Tatooine. It was the Moffship, the official space vehicle of the Imperial grand moffs - the Imperial governors of the outer regions of space. The grand moffs were holding a secret conference - a Mofference."

Ooohh! If only ANH had started with a menaceing Moffship looming over the planet! And a Mofference! Who approved this? And can they read? Anyway, it's all equally bad. Leia giggle like a twit and agrees to the stupid idea of eloping to "Hologram Fun World". How out of character is that? Leia knows her duties to her people and wouldn't run off to some moronic amusement park to play. And she certainly wouldn't get married without her brother there. I could go on, but let's leave it at that, eh?

Scott:

The Sarlaac yaks up Zorba the Hutt like a hairball. Hmmm. Maybe that's how Fett got out, you think?
A Mofference! LOL!!!

All joking aside, these horrendous children's novels ought to be labeled N-Canon.

The Essential guide to Droids says that there are different types of HRD's.

I'd imagine that sex with a HRD that is just 3P0 covered in syntheflesh wouldn't be too fun, but SOTE seemed to imply that Guri was indeed "fully functional and knows of multiple techniques".

I'm telling you, Guri was almost a totally human cyborg. She was grown in a vat, they discuss her cortex and brain - implying an at least partially organic brain. They discuss her "muscle memory."

Guri appears more organic than inorganic. She's a true cyborg, and an artificial organism.

Yeah, I'd tend to think so. Iirc, they mentioned something about her having "bio-fiber" organs in SOTE which could fool all but the most advanced sensors.

A HRD would need to at least resemble the density of a human's body, and contain a lot of water, in order to fool sensors. Body heat would need to be the same, all sorts of internal grumblings and churnings would need to be present...

I'd imagine that some aspects of an HRD would probably need to have a variable switch, say in their digestive system, for instance... digest nice and slow like a human when it's needed, but being able to rapidly evacuate their bowels should they suddenly need to escape. For example.

The fact that Guri was made so much stronger and faster than a normal human without weighing many times as much (as IG-88 was) is the really impressive feat.
