Count Dooku

What does Dooku expect to happen now that he helped start the Clone War?

Sure he helped set up all the stuff Palpatine needed to gain more power, and the war will help cull the Jedi down to more managable numbers. The fewer for the Sith to kill. But, Dooku is still starting out officially on the side opposite of Palpatine. Is it planned that he'll "switch" sides or be pardoned?

It's irrelevant isn't it? Anakin will kill him in a dark side rage, and take his place at the Emperor's side :)

It is a valid question though- considering Dooku doesn't know that.

At the end of the movie it seems to me that Dooku is in a bit of a bind "officially".

Perhaps, after joining Palpatine's team Anakin will get some PR points for them by taking out Dooku.

Certainly Dooku has plans of his own but I just wonder what the "official" plans Dooku and Palpatine supposedly have.

Perhaps, after the Clone Wars are fought and the Seperatists utterly defeated, Palpatine and Dooku planned to sign a peace treaty (naturally) and Dooku joins Palpatine in government as a sign of reconciliation?

Interesting note- the Clone Wars is happening right now. Mcallum has already said that the time period elapsed between the two is 3 years- exactly the same period as between May 2002 and May 2005 :)

Get ready for one kick ass end of the Clone Wars space battle at the start of the film :)

There have been proceedings in place that give us some indication of a digitized animated production detailing the Clone Wars will take place sometime in the near future. Lucasfilm has reportedly sent Cartoon Network a pilot episode, and Entertainment Weekly reports that the show would be "real-time". It would be interesting to see this TV counter-part to HoloNetNew's real-time broadcasts.

I sure as hell hope so. To see VSD's pound at seperatist battleships, fighters screaming everywhere. Exploding starships blotting out the sky. *drool*

I think Dooku is the real badguy running the show and that Palpatine is his pawn. Afterall, wouldnt it make much more sense for the badguy to consistantly be hidden and unknown?

Dooku mastered force lightning while he was young, we've seen no evidence of Palpatine, whos equally old if not older, use force lightning until ROTJ. By ROTJ palpy is atleast 100 years old while dooku is now about 70.

Besides, Christopher Lee is badass and should be the evil guy in all films ever. Period.

Blatantly contradicted by Attack of the Clones and all of Star Wars continuity. Darth Tyranus is the servant. Darth Sidious is the master.

No, Christopher Lee is 79 years old. Also, just because we only see Sidious use force lightning on Luke in ROTJ doesn't mean he couldn't use it before. It's quite bleeding obvious that Sidious TAUGHT Dooku how to do it.

Yes he is a badass. No reason to be a dumbass about it though.

When the fuck did they say Palp was 100? Someone said he wasn't THAT old.

Oi...Palp is hardly 100...the problem is that the Dark Force is hinted at aging one extraordinarily quickly.

And honestly just because Dooku uses Lightning before Palp chronologically doesn't mean he knew it first....yeesh

ok figure:

If in TPM Palpatine is say fifty maybe 60, and Anakin is 8, then 10 years later during AOTC Palpatine is 70 at most. By the time of ANH, Anakin looks about 45. that means 25 or so years passed, making Palpatine 95 years old. Give or take 5 years.

Despite this, Dooku is still older. Unless, ofcourse, you want to say palpatine is REALLY old. But hes atleast 95 or 100 years old.

I'm also assuming Lukes birth within 3 years from AOTC by the time of EIII. Luke would be about 20 figuring this.

And while earlier chronological use != earlier use period, maul had shit for power and now all of the sudden Dooku has force lightning. Even if hes not more powerful (which is possible without him being dominant) he still has far more power then any other of Palpatines apprentices, possibly even Anakin who is arguably one of the strongest Force users in the movies.

The Emperor transferred his mind to a number of clone bodies in Dark Empire. He might have done it a couple times before then.

Force lighting may just not be the fighting style of Vader and Maul. Or both may have found it ineffective against prepared Jedi, as was the case in AOTC and just stopped bothering. Just because they don't use the ability doesn’t mean it may not be within there power.

Where is proof of this persay...let's asy he's fifty...late forites...he's been using the Dark side of the Force for how long...honestly it is very hard to say how old he is given that it supposedly corrupts from within, and official sources claim he's both used the jump a clone technique before(DE Issue #2).
Despite this, Dooku is still older. Unless, ofcourse, you want to say palpatine is REALLY old. But hes atleast 95 or 100 years old.
The actor is older...and?

As for the Force Lightning...Seaskimmer has a good point...it's not in their style given than Obi-Wan easily deflected it. Apparently prepared Jedis have a much better chance of deflecting, or retransmitting it than unprepared.

Maul was a very efficient fighter. He probably wouldn't go for the flashiness or energy drain of Force Lightning.

Dooku isn't more powerful than Anakin. He was more experienced in AOTC, but not more powerful.

Uh, Maul's style was not primarily effective. He was quite flashy in his own way. Witness his fast footwork, his leaps... whereas Dooku used Force Lightning to wear down his enemy before crossing blades. I'd say Dooku is clearly more experienced and powerful. That fact also fits with his demonstrated telekinetic power, far in excess of anything we've seen Maul do.

One should also note the Mual was persumably trained from begaining to end (if he was fully trained yet). On the other side, Dooku was a fully trained Jedi Knight and Master since he trained Qui Gon, before he went to the dark side.

On one hand Palpitine had to start at the begaining with Mual, but when he trained Dooku he could skip all the basic stuff and go straight for the advanced stuff.

Very likely. Maul is very much like his namesake. You can use him to smash almost anything head - on. Dooku is clearly stronger in the Force, but physically, I doubt he'd be up to extended battling against multiple opponents. If that situation came up, he would probably elect to rip them apart with the Force rather than face them with his sword.
