Mace Windu's power

The opinion of many SW fans seems to be that Mace Windu is an extremley powerful jedi, some even think he is more powerful than Yoda.
I've seen several threads in theforce.net in which many fans want to see Anakin lose the fight with Mace Windu IF there was one because Windu losing would make him look uncool.
I have to ask: what makes everyone think that Mace is so powerful.
He jumps around a little in battle of Geonosis, then fights that Reek and then kills some droids. Don't get me wrong, he is powerful but he doesn't appear to be any more powerful than Qui-Gon for example.

In the Clone Wars cartoon he beat Super Battle Droids to scrap with his TK single handedly. Like hundreds of them.

I dont know if thats canon though, but if it is it's a good example of what an upper-tier Jedi can do.

That Clone Wars episode is widely considered to be 'Mace Windu, as recalled by Paxi Silo years later', and is greatly subject to exaggeration and the influences of a child's imagination.

Considered by who? I could understand if Clone Wars wasnt canon, but who decided this one episode wasnt? :?

Remember what Anakin said about Obi-Wan to Padme ("as wise as Master Yoda and as powerfull as Master Windu") we all know Yoda really badass and in term of power and wisdom Mace Windu is second only to Yoda (if to anyone).

look for the Clone Wars discussion thread.

Also, http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/paxisylo/

The databank implies that this episode of clone wars cartoon is actually a holovid animation created by Sylo years after the battle.

Well isn't Anakin the strongest, only training matters?

And as I've heard, Luke is stronger than Anakin, which just makes me wonder how fucking powerfull is Palpatine in all of this? I mean he certainly seems like he's a step above all others to me, or maybe thats just because he's using them all as pawns?

And if we're going into EU territory I read that Kyp Durron has more raw power than Luke, he admitted though that it usually didn't matter, guess it's experience and training that offsets alot.

I've always felt that episode shows what a Jedi REALLY can do- everything we've seen has had them holding back. Knowing their abilities, that seemed REALISTIC.

The Dark Jedi we've seen only fight other Jedi, and the Jedi normally hold back against, say, stormtroopers, because of the Jedi code and such.

If Darth Maul had fought against the Naboo team with no Jedi to interfere, whos to say he wouldn't have wiped them out with TK in two seconds like Mace did with those droids?

However, it didn't seem uber to me. I think any powerful Jedi could have done the same, it was just TK this, TK that, run really fast, TK this, TK that.

Exactly. I dont see why people feel they need to say it was some holo-thingy. I mean, the the simply explenation is it's a Jedi using telekinesis and skill, something, i would think, any Jedi could do. But some call it 'wanking' i guess *shrugs* like it's 'unrealistic' of what a psionic samurai would do or something.

Anakin at that didn't know he was the most powerfull Jedi (in terms of potential), I belive each Jedi has certain potential to control and use the Force and he/she/it can't become stronger then this potential (with out destroying him/her/itself in prosess). So Anakin had greatest potential (apart of it seems), but he never had skill or will reach that potential.

Well Palpy threw around force storms so Anikin couldnt have been that much more powerful than him or else he'd have been unstoppable, skill or not. He'd just flick people like that kid from that famous Twilight Zone episode who was omniscient.

This is form Aaroin Allston's Rebel Dream? Read his website. This only is from Kyp's personal PoV. Meaning he isn't 'realy' he just thinks he is.

well EU Palpy is slowly destroy himself due to use of the darkside(or just the Force), so has probaly exeeded his limit and lost control (remember that the Palpatine-clones are even less sane then the orginal (not that he was very sane to begin with).

In the first book we saw Kyp, Luke used a imperial Jeditest machine on him and discovered that Kyp is more powerful then Luke.

Fucking Stupid KJA.

However, IIRC Kyp lost a lot of power after returning from the dark side-- took him a fair while to recover entirely, This is IIRC though........ I could very well be off here.

Such things are not foolproof. Luke is the most powerful jedi ever to live according to the canon. KJA can go sit on a spike.

Fucking a!
Altough I believe Anakin/Vader would be the most powerful if he played his cards right (not falling into lava/acid and such).

Back to the topic. Wouldn't Mace Windu use ALL of his power in the Geonosis battle. I mean Jedi were dying left and right, there was no reason to hold back Jedi code or not. Besides I don't think slicing someones head off with a lightsaber is exactly in line with the Jedi code.

well first we got Dooku who might be supressing the Jedi and power like the Mace used in CW are leathal to anybody who get in the way and very hard to control (so Mace might end killing all the Jedi in the arena) and there's difference to slicing someone's head of during combat and doing it since you didn't like his/her face, don't you think?

No, he didn't lose power but he never learned the control Luke has. He sucks at controlling it.

I actually think Palpatine is the strongest otherwise Anakin would've tried overthrowing him some time ago before he tried making his overtures to Luke.

Though in another respect, Luke is the strongest not in actual abilities but because of his destiny. Until the Force decides its time to let him go, the Force has constantly thrown him into the fire and had him come out victorious no matter whether he lost in the strength vs. strength department (KJA or not).

Whats to say he didn't? After the Jedi started dying he probably went all out, but he couldn't get to Dooku or do any noticeable damage.

Even his fight in the Clone Wars cartoon, with all the droids he destroyed, didn't make a noticeable gap in their formation.

All jedi wankers can sit on a spike for all I care. So if Windu is so bleeding powerful why did he and his little jedi band get their asses handed to them by a bunch of droids? Without the clones they would've been in serious trouble.
No wait, they'd just been dead.
