Anyone want to take a guess at this?

Haven't we?
Something in the low to medium quintillions, I believe.

I'm curious because, given 12 million full member worlds, and a
stated figure of "six hundred fifty billion"

which we can only assume to mean 6.5e13 for the population of coruscant, an upper limit I came up with is 7.8e21. So, I'm looking for a lower limit.

Some factors to definitly consider are the ease of both food, transportation of goods and medical.
I'd roughly give easily most except the desolate Outer Rim worlds, a 10 billion mark. Captials easily in the Trillion mark.
Also Han's quote in DE was Twelve Million inhabited Star Systems...not planets.

So, if we say the average is 10 billion, the average highly developed world, 10 trillion or even 100 trillion, and the average rim world 10 million, what proportions of each are there?

Except that the official population of Coruscant was revised to one trillion (US, abandon antiques) in the ITWs.
And yeah, I know that's still too low, but still indicating that it's been revised.

Wouldn't be too bad of a start.
As for ratios a bit unsure...could get to you back at the weekend to see what I can dig up. If I remember the Outer Rim is not tjhat much inhabited as claimed really. The Core worlds also wouldn't be a huge proportion as well.
Maybe a really rough of 35: 50: 15 (Core, Mid, Outer)?

Well, the Empire has a million systems according to the ANH novelization, while there are 12 million inhabited systems in the galaxy by Han's estimation in Dark Empire- ie taking into account the "so many uncharted settlements", the piss-ant backwater systems the Empire doesn't concern itself with (must be pretty shitty considering Tatooine is part of the Empire) etc.

Assuming Lord Vader didn't conquer Tatooine for sentimental reasons.

We all know it was the personally capture Watto and go "Ya Mule, YA!!" as he pulls Vader's Speeder.

Assuming there arent that many Coruscants out there (i think only a few are ever mentioned), that some hundreds of trillions right there per city-planet.
I couldnt imagine what teh whole galactic population is. Honestly it's a number starkly inconceivable to the human mind, tens of quadrillions or hundreds maybe?
I think the word 'countless' is as accurate as we'll ever really get without over/under guessing.
Countless beings across tens of millions of planets.
