It's called a memory wipe.David Brin wrote:Let's not even go into micro-illogicalities, like having CP30 work for 'Uncle Owen' for ten years... then later they won't recognize each other at all.
I rather enjoyed those quotes...David Brin wrote:Minor nitpick... did anyone notice the repeated use of the phrase 'fire on the Federation starship!' and 'don't let the Federation starship get away!'

Mabye because we get to see the bad guys plotting? Gee, no, that couldn't be the answer. [/sarcasm]David Brin wrote:No systems of accountability function. The most outrageous political manipulation is made utterly obvious to us... while escaping notice even by the wisest Jedi. Above all, just as in TPM, every heroic action by brave characters serves no purpose at all. None.
I do think his Episode Three idea would be semi-interesting, though it still would cause problems because he did torture Leia. He's not a total idiot, he just has a different perspective on things.

The link at the bottom of Brin's page is a good site. For those who don't want to go through his stuff again, it's at http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/P ... 8ipzbt.asp. It discusses why the Empire is morally superior to either the Old Republic or the Rebel Alliance, using only movie canon evidence.

Dumbasses. The Clones are the GOOD guys. And ooh, it sounds Spanish! Lucas is rascist. And the actor who played Jango was Maio or something (not sure how to spell it.)

Marvelous. This guy think that the word "Federation" is a property right of Star Trek. So if I write a sci-fi (or any story whatsoever), and designate one of my fictional governments as "Federation", then I do it for the purpose of bashing Star Trek. Idiot.David Brin wrote: Minor nitpick... did anyone notice the repeated use of the phrase 'fire on the Federation starship!' and 'don't let the Federation starship get away!'

It reminds me of what I've read on Mike Wong's racism page (http://www.stardestroyer.net/Empire/Essays/Racism.html). Gee, I don't see **ANY** resemblance whatsoever between the clone army and Mexican immigrants. See, it is not GL who implied racism; it is the Latino critics itself which accepts **stereotypes** that Mexicans are lookalikes that marching in lockstep by tens of thousands. Thus, a clone army must represent Mexicans, right? [/sarcasm mode]David Brin wrote: But left to his own devices, who can doubt that Lucas's Jedi world would be a monastic order of pure-thinking white males... plus one green preachy oven mitt. Nothing in Kamino reminds of anything Spanish. And I don't think anybody see anything Spanish in Kamino. Did the clonemaster wear sombrero? It is, after all, a FICTIONAL planet.David Brin wrote: The fact that the soldiers are bred on the planet Kamino -— which sounds like the Spanish word 'camino' -— is a dead giveaway to the bias and bounty hunter Jango Fett even looks Latino," critics say.
Bullshit. In ROTJ, Luke got angry when Vader said he would turn Leia into Dark Side ("if you don't want to be turned, then perhaps your sister will"). Did Luke turn into Dark Side? No. Getting angry at evil will **NOT** turn you evil. It is GIVING UP to your anger, fear, and hatred that will turn you evil.David Brin wrote: But then ROTJ and TPM went much farther, spreading an outright lie that tipped over into madness, claiming the following... that the mere act of getting angry AT evil will TURN you evil!

According to BabelFish, camino means "way" in Spanish.
So what the fuck does Brin think that's suppost to mean?
Or did all he know was that camino was a word in Spanish, without bothering to look up what it meant?
Idiot.

To quote Joker: "Don't listen to any of Payback's bullshit, he thinks he's John Wayne."
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.
I already debunked his fucking stupid ideas about Episode III and all these' coincidences' in a previous Brin thread. Maybe he should go write a Postman II script and see if anyone gives a flying fuck- no talent hack.

Uhh, did you read the bit where Brin dismisses the arguments of 'latino critics?' He's reporting their arugments but he isn't supporting them.Kreshna Aryaguna Nurzaman wrote:Nothing in Kamino reminds of anything Spanish. And I don't think anybody see anything Spanish in Kamino. It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

"These accusations sound like a real stretch and normally I'd have a twinge of sympathy for someone being targeted by PC selective/hypersensitivity. But every act of inclusion on Lucas's part was forced on him by external pressure. Hence Lando after the lily white SW#1. Now you see girl Jedi trainees, anathema to GL in past versions but included now after complaints. Next movie will surely have a Chicano low rider caricature help Obi-Wan make his escape with the twins."Enlightenment wrote:Uhh, did you read the bit where Brin dismisses the arguments of 'latino critics?' He says that the accusations may sound like a stretch, and that normally he would be sympathetic to the target, GL. However, in this case he believes that Lucas only added multiple races etc. due to outward pressure. Basically he agrees with the claims of racism.

Is there any evidence to suggest that GL added Lando to the series only due to external pressure? Is it completely unreasonable to suggest that GL had intended for Lando to be in the series all along?
