ok... I'm thinking of making an Imperial Officer uniform, but I found conflicting rank insignia for "Colonel"

which should it be?

While not everyone agrees with Saxton on every detail of his rank table, of the common ones, the Saxtonian rank tables are considered the best overall and are generally used with only minor adjustments*

*most generally a relaxation of Saxton's ultra-Britcentric attitude towards fighter pilot ranks vs positions, with the second most popular adjustment being a relaxation of the attitude towards the use of Commander in the Army as a middling rank (see South African Army as an example).

In this case, Saxton scheme matches up better with ANH and TESB canon. The other thing is probably lifted from WEG's incompetent works. It is rather inconsistent anyway. The guy blindly copies the ROTJ insignia (which are all the same ... a well known blooper). One is blissfully unaware until that diagram that a Moff is junior to a Colonel

so Colonel should be:

EDIT: Oh, and dark grey for Imperial Army?

This color for an army officer.

And I prefer the ESB-style rank plaques (Saxton's "Aesthetic 1"), but that's up to you.
