SlaveI VS Tie Advance XL StarFighter
SlaveI
What began life as a Kuat Systems Engineering limited edition Firespray-class ship is now a dedicated pursuit craft worthy of the galaxy's best bounty hunter. Aside from its clearly visible twin blaster cannons, the ship also has numerous weapons hidden away. Concealed in its hull are a turret-mounted tractor beam projector, a pair of proton torpedo launchers, concussion missile tubes, and a powerful ion cannon.
VS
Tie Advance XL StarFighter
Developed to Darth Vader's specifications, Sienar Fleet Systems constructed the TIE Advanced x1 as a predecessor to their later cutting edge fighters, the TIE Avenger and the TIE interceptor. Like the standard TIE fighter, the x1 prototype features powerful twin laser cannons and two solar gather panels that provide power to the ship's systems. Twin ion engines propel the craft at amazing speeds.
Unlike the standard TIE/ln starfighter, the x1 had a much more robust spaceframe, with reinforced durasteel-alloy hull, providing greater protection from enemy fire and stability during strenuous maneuvers. Also, abandoning previous Imperial design policies, considerable resources were spent to make the TIE Advanced hyperspace-capable, and the fighter was even equipped with deflector shields.

If Vader is piloting, he wins.
Otherwise, Slave 1 wins, for one simple reason:
Slave 1 has seeking concussion missles and proton torps, plus a tractor beam to keep the opponent in place (or just slow him down to prevent evasion).
TIE Advance does not have any seeking weapons or any kill-in-one-hit weapons like these missles.

Yes but if the TIE is piloted by Vader it gives it a signifigantly better chance.Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba wrote:One novel stated 40 normal TIEs as being half what it would take to kill the Slave 1. Thus, the Slave 1 is equal to 80 TIE Fighters.
80 TIE Fighters> 1 TIE Advanced x1
But that's just my opinion.

The Millenium Falcon has about half of the firepower of Slave 1 and it had trouble with only four fighters in ANH and ESB. This would put the estimate of the number at 16 ships but the Falcon is more agile than Slave 1 so call it a squadron of 12 ships. One novel stated 40 normal TIEs as being half what it would take to kill the Slave 1. Tough one then, because while Jango could mop the floor with ANYONE else, Vader can just use the force to confuse Jango's mind.
Best case: Mind trick can make Jango self destruct or shut off the shields or something.
Worst case: Jango is too strong willed to kill himself, so all Vader can do is muddle his senses a bit, or predict his attacks with the Force. But even that is enough to give Vader a HUGE advantage.

Umm, you do realise that the production model of the Tie Advanced was a STRIPPED DOWN version of Vader's personal fighter, right?
Shields, Hyperdrive, Warhead launchers, and it was considered STRIPPED DOWN from Vader's model.
I say the Vader's fighter rips them apart.
Come on, in a comic, Luke commented Vader's lone Tie Fighter was a serious threat to the Falcon

In one of the Tales novels (Tales of the New Republic?) Fett rips through an entire Imperial garrison Rambo-style. To distract the 40 TIEs and several turbolasers on the garrison, he set his ship to do an automated battle routine. With its AI, missing its pilot; it outflied, outgunned, and outmaneuvered all 40 TIEs and tore them to ribbons, while avoiding every shot from the turbolasers. Now, WITH its very skilled pilot, any one TIE would be a cakewalk.Adamskywalker007 wrote:The Millenium Falcon has about half of the firepower of Slave 1 and it had trouble with only four fighters in ANH and ESB. Why wonder why? The answer is simple: obviously, someone somewhere decided that he or she needed Baby Jesus up the ass.

I believe the tractor beam was added after Boba took over the Slave I, not while Jango had it.

I believe it was one of Boba Fett's modifcations after the death of Jango. Other mods include replacing the pop-out blasters with an ion cannon and a proton torp launcher I think (not sure on the torp launcher).Robert Walper wrote:Where was this tractor beam when Jango was chasing Obi Won's craft?Praxis wrote: Slave 1 has seeking concussion missles and proton torps, plus a tractor beam to keep the opponent in place (or just slow him down to prevent evasion).
Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.
Yet what he creates tends to be total shit. Example: Ode to Spot.
Purely subjective. Believe it or not, there are people who like that poem.
There are people who like to eat shit too. Those people are idiots.- Darth Servo and Bounty.

It's TIE/X1 Advanced. Or "Darth Vader's TIE Fighter"- whichever you prefer.

I've read that book. I don't recall the Slave I destroying hte fighters just drawing them away from the base.Lone_Prodigy wrote:In one of the Tales novels (Tales of the New Republic?) It did? Damn, maybe it's been too long since I read it but I could've sworn it destroyed at least a few. Still, maneuverable to stay unharmed by a swarm of 40 TIEs with turbolaser support is quite a feat.
