Can a World Devastator make Sun Crushers?

EU-wank breeding even more EU-wank....that's downright terrifying! IS there any information available on the process necessary to create 'quantum armor' that'd give us an idea of the WDs could handle it?

If it finds the right things to eat, absolutely. A group of scientists in a hidden installation, with no resources given to them for over a decade managed to put together the Sun Crusher, even if there's funky weird stuff involved, the WD can build the tools, to build the tools, and however many interations of that cycle as are needed to get to the point of building a Sun Crusher.

Now if you want to know if one of the WDs attacking Mon Calamari could just shit one out after a day or two, I've got no clue, but I'm leaning towards no. Tis is working off of the baseless assumption that making the tools to build the Sun Crusher is going to take a while, and the material needed isn't going to be easily made.

Fuck that, can a hundred cloned Palpatines force storm the galaxy into oblivion?

In regards to the orginal question.
No

SunCrushers are an ÜberTech wankfest and a Brainbug.

That said, I LIKE Word Devastators. Think about it the 'good' you could use them for. Leave them on a dead world, and come back a few years later and have a whole city ready for colonization! Or heck, Have one drift through an Astroid field and slowly make shipyards!

Pfft. I was serious about the topic of this thread. Honest.

Ok, no, but it's a funny idea.

I've never read Dark Empire so i'd need to know just how extensive the production on it are.

IIRC The Suncrusher was pretty standard inside it was just it's ultra hard quantum-layered armour that would be hard to manufacture IIRC. Unfortunately the EU never says how and what that armour is made of.

Quantum layered armor is made by rearranging atoms so they somehow become more resistant to blasters atom disrupting effect.
I think stars end prison has it's outer shell made of that stuff.
It's said it could take on orbital bombardment from an entire fleet of star destroyers.
It's also super hard.
It's not common because it supposedly costs oodles to make.

Sorry 'bout that folks, I got my wanks mixed up.
Sun Crusher has layers of quantum crystalline armor

Star's end "just" has molecular-bond armor sheath and Rampart-class anticoncussion generator.

Then again I'd suspect quantum crystalline armor is made in a similar way as molecular-bond armor.

They need to mount a Galaxy Gun on an Eclipse-class Sooper Star Destroyah MKII that has quantum armor! IT WOULD PWNZ J00!!!

Yeah, the sun crusher ain't normal quantum armor.

Heck, in NJO Lando was saying that he had developed a new armor (forget the name, was Lam-something) that was better than quantum. He used it on his YVH droids. It was sweet, too- the droids would take heavy impacts that would slice through a human body like butter, get a little dent, and it would warp and fill the dent in a second. It would take a fighter shot to take down one of the droids.

But the sun crusher used quantum crystalline armor, that was, basicly, invincible to anything except a Death Star superlaser or a black hole.

Wow thank you for not contributing. We got the picture long ago that you held the EU in contempt, get over it already.

Well, I too hold the EU in contempt.

Still, I think the Devastator could make at least the armor used in the Crusher. Failing that it should be able to manufacture molecularly bonded armor. The manufacturing process is similar, to that the Devastator uses to construct stuff in the first place. I think it scoops up raw material, makes this atom goo out of it, then arranges those atoms into materials that can be used in manufacturing.

Molecularly bonded armor is made by: Softening even melting dense metals. While it cools it's bombarded by charged particle vibrating waves.

Not sure about those resonance torpedos or the projector.

Oh, and don't forget, QCA also totally neutralizes the effects of inertia and collisons on any ship fitted with it. SEE: Suncrusher ramming through an ISD.

Lando also makes some kind of a "diving bell" out of quantum armor in one of those young Jedi books by KJA and uses it from some space station over Yavin to catch corusca gems.

QCA was constructed or purchased on Vortex to repair the cathedral in the NJO, so, the technical abilities isn't extremely exotic.. Rate of production may be very low, but yeah, why not?

IIRC, in the particular NJO book, it shows the alien chick who was originally behind the Suncrusher was involved with the redevelopment and application of QCA technology for the Vortex Cathedral.

I thought Kyp Durron wiped her memory of all that knowledge.

Yeah, she remembered bits and peices and read through bits and peices of her notes, and was able to partially rebuild it.
