In AotC, when Dooku is talking to Obi-Wan and reveals that there is a Sith Lord controlling the senate. Do you think that maybe he is trying to recriut Obi-Wan. Maybe to make Obi-Wan his dark apprentice and overthrow the emperor. Seeing that there are only two Sith at a time due to there motivation of greed and power, perhaps Dooku thought he could rule the galaxy.

More likely misinformation to seed mistrust and deception in the Jedi ranks against the Senate.

RotS novelization: Yes, he was.

Yes he was trying to recruit Obi Wan or he was trying to sow distrust?

Well it is possible that Tyranus could see the writing on the wall so to speak and was trying to beat his master to the punch so to speak by trying to recruit Obi Wan

Ok, got the book today; SPOILER:
Dooku thought he was in on the plan with Sidious. Sidious was plying it a bit closer to the chest though. Dooku thought the plan was to get Skywalker over to the dark side and use him as a General in the soon to be made Sith Army. Dooku also (sentimental reasons) wanted one last shot at convincing Obi Won to come over to the dark side as well. But since Sidious didn't mention to Dooku that Dooku himself was a test for Skywalker, it didn't quite go the way Dooku wanted it to.

Nope, I was operating under that idea too, but Dooku was in the dark, sort of speak.

Yes, he was trying to recruit Obi-Wan in AOTC. We don't have an indication as to whether Sidious disapproved then, but Sidious' had clearly decided that he had his chance by RotS. Really, they didn't put much effort in trying to bring over Obi-Wan anyway- not like the decades long production that went into turning Anakin.

I haven't read too many of the RotS spoilers, but I get the feeling that Dooku considered his alliance with Palpatine to just be one of convenience. He believed that the Republic had become so corrupt that there was no way of correcting the damage from within, so he joined with Palpatine and turned to the Dark Side in order to gain the power he'd need to achieve his ends. Unfortunately, he underestimated both Palpatine and the hold that the Dark Side had over him. It was that whole "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions" thing.
