Fate of the Jedi Archives?

Do we know fate befell the Jedi Archives on Coruscant? Were they destroyed on Palpatine's orders or were they preserved? I just don't see him having them destroyed, the info would be too valuable.

Palpatine doubtless had it stockpiled somewhere. I bet you Thrawn took a big interest into whatever happened to it when he showed up.

I don’t know but the system yoda fled too was not on the rebels charts with means one of 3 things. 1) They were destroyed 2) the rebels have crap charts or 3) Yoda erased it from the archive before he left.

So no help there.

Dagobah was already erased before Yoda discovered it, since it and Kamino were part of about three-dozen systems that had been deleted by someone or another.

My speculation, based on my no spoiler policy, is that some Jedi manage to destroy the archives before the Temple is overrun.

Palpatine most certainly preserved at least *some* of the information from the Jedi Archives in some format, possibly holocrons. Since the new DVDs show the Temple still exists, it's possible that he ordered the Archives not be destroyed, a sentiment which I can certainly understand.

The temple's presence in the DVD's however is making some EU-fans I know go nuts, especially in regards to Traitor.

It's a relatively minor spoiler. It can be found in the ROTS ICS.

*Shrugs* Too fuckin' bad, then. It would've been nice if Lucas had left it out, would've made things a little easier, but apparently he decided to leave it in, which is his right. If it screws up bits of the EU... so be it... the rest of it still applies.

Yeah, here's the whole passage, reduced down with a shrinking ray:
Curtis Saxton wrote:A Hidden Sanctuary
After discovering the disappearance of the planet Kamino from Jedi navigational charts at the beginning of the Clone Wars, Yoda discreetly scanned for other gaps. Throughout the entire galaxy, he detected 37 more "missing" star systems. He found amazing strategic resources in some, while he met fiendish foes in others. With the dark side of the Force ever more pervasive, Yoda chose to keep one lost planet, Dagobah, as his private secret. In so doing, he was able to out-manipulate the phantom menace responsible for deleting the Jedi files. By adopting Dagobah as his hiding place, Yoda now awaits a new hope for the galaxy in safe, if lonely, isolation.

My guess was that Palpatine took whatever he could, and had the shell of the archives destroyed once anything of importance had been secretly carried off. With tight security in place and the jedi in full retreat, he definitely could have arranged it so that people thought that the archives was completely intact when he destroyed it.

Fines were doubled to 50 credits a day for overdues, and the kid's reading center was shut down. But they installed a nice coffee-latte shop in the annex!

They forget the battles over Courscant in DE, not to mention SbS, in both those books, its not out of bounds to think the Temple was hit somehow.
