I just had to show this apparent scan (I think) because it shows how cool the Clonetroopers of various types will look in RotS.

- Main pic: Commander Bly, on Felucia, though it may not necessarily be him since all the troops backing Aayla Secura up look like him- i.e they're ARC Troopers as seen in RotS:VD. Notice the ANH Tatooine style pauldrons.

Now, from left to right down the bottom:

- Clone Commander (unknown)- basically the same as Commander Bly, but different legion (since the color is different)
- Clone Pilot
- Commander Bacara, backing up Ki-Adi-Mundi on Mygeeto
- Commander Gree, backing up Yoda on Kashyyk. Every Clonetrooper on Kashyyk has superb camoflage
- Clone Scoutrooper, on Kashyyk- ride BARC Speeders
- Unknown Clonetrooper who I've never seen.

This isn't an exhaustive survey of all the troops we've seen (I recall at least three, maybe as many as five other special types in addition to the regular variety that we know of already), but I think it's useful to tell us about the greater variety in Stormtrooper uniform and equipment that we could reasonably expect in a full scale war.

If someone could translate the language, it'd be appreciated ...

Good grief, that last clone trooper's mouthpiece looks eeriely similar to WEG's Radtroopers (Radiation Zone Stormtroopers)

There's no major spoilers.

What it basically says is how Obi Wan discovered the Separatists on Geonosis the Jedi sent an army of clone soldiers from Kamino. A million soldiers from the clone army fought the droid separatists. Jedi Master Sifo Dyas helped darth Sidious in his long term plans. Count Dooku used Jango's DNA and that they were all identical. Then it says about how they can be trained to be pilots, etc. Then it says about how they were used to fight Separatists an Kashyyk, Utapau, and so on. Finally it says is that Chancellor Palpatine used the clone troopers to his advantage to surprise the Jedi and protect the new galactic Empire.

Hope that helps (It has been quite a while since my GCSE French so apologies in advance for any mistakes).

Ok. My french is seriously rusty, but:

When Obi Wan Kenobi discovered proof of an enormous Separatist army massing at Geonosis (not sure about this part), the Jedi believed that they had no choice but to take command of the army created for them at Kamino. A million clone soldiers left for combat during the first stage of the Clone Wars and faced the Separatist droids in the battlefields from Muunlist to Mon Calamari.

Had the Jedi investigated in depth, they might have realized that they had made a terrible mistake. The army, its creation ordered by Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas ten years before, is being secretly used by Darth Sidious for his long term plans. Count Dooku arranged for the use of famous bounty hunter Jango Fett as genetic model for the Kaminoan cloners. (Cannot understand this part), the clones age from childhood to adulthood in just ten years.

Although the clone soldiers have the same features, they are not completely identical. Some get more authonomy and are promoted to commanders. An elite warrior class is raised and trained to become the Advanced Recon Commandos, better known as ARC soldiers. Other clones receive special training as ARC-1270 or V-Wing fighter pilots. During the Clone Wars, the name of the soldiers changed from a serial number to true names such as Cody, Bly and Odd Ball.

The Republic does not consider expenses in the gear for its army. The impressive (impossing?) Venator class Star Destroyers transport the soldiers through space, just as the Juggernaut tanks and the AT-AP that break enemy lines (?) in the ground. Each soldier carries a full armour of white plastoid that protect him against (??). During the last stages of the war, the clone soldiers advanced and removed several Separatist strongholds at Utapau, Kashyyk, Mygeeto and Felucia.
The clone soldiers finally reveal to be the deadly pawns in Chancellor Palpatine+s checkmate when they surprise their Jedi commanders. They become the well known stormtroopers, defenders of the new Galactic Empire.

So nothing new.

It strikes me that perhaps the last trooper is a Lava-Trooper? One of those who rescue Anakin? :?:

Edited for spoiler. - Vympel

Imposing.

Not sure about this one. Enfoncer is to sink or to hit.
It's also "while the Juggernaut...", not "just as." Slight difference, maybe more nitpicky than necessary. Maybe "while the Juggernaut tanks and the AT-AP hit enemy lines on the ground"?
Each soldier carries a full armour of white plastoid that protect him against (??).
Diverse...shards? Maybe fragments? I wouldn't have used eclat there myself. "Protect against many shards" would seem to be the most accurate translation.

The real touch is they look beat up; their armor looks worn-in and having been through quite a few dumps in the dirt. The new clonetroopers in AOTC looked unrealistically antiseptic and uniform, though this is understandable as the opening batch.

What about "protect against shrapnel"?

I think that's the intended meaning, but I'm pretty sure the word shrapnel exists in French also.

Hmm? The Clonetrooper armor on AotC isn't as beat up as it is in RotS, but it is beat up somewhat- watch for example the SPHA-T scene- the commentary on the DVD to that effect is that they purposely did so that the Clonetroopers didn't look unrealistically clean.

As for the "Lava Trooper"- the troops that rescue Anakin are Coruscant shock troops

I'd imagine so, considering France's history of having things blown up in it, but the translation site (a good one, in fact) I fed "shrapnel" to spit out "éclats d'obus", which is very similar to "éclats divers". I wouldn't be suprised if the French word for "shrapnel" comes from their word for "shards".
