No, not the NBC fundy wank fest.

This is a Star Wars fan film, I've heard it's great, I haven't seen it yet, was 1/3 thru downloading it but their server died, so I'm starting over.

Nuh-uh, after several bad and truly lame experiences, It's my policy to avoid fanfilms like the Plague.

It's probably just another one of those damn "two Jedi in the woods" things again, anyway...

I downloaded the trailer. While the acting sucks, the CG work was better then I expected, it's certainly not "two Jedi in the woods."

As though "two Jedi in the woods" is a bad thing.

Only because of lack of plot.

This is supposed to be an actual story, maybe it's lame, maybe not. I really don't see what grounds Spanky has to say "it's probably just couple of dudes beating each other" when all the evidence points to the contrary. Hating fan films is one thing, but this kind of generalisation is ridiculous.

I enjoyed this. The acting and direction wasn't wonderful, but on the budget, it was good. The CGI was superb, and the story was original, though it would raise questions if integrated into the canon.

What is this "two jedi in the woods"? Haven't seen all that many fan films, and as far I remember, none of them had jedi in the woods...

I was underwhelmed by Revelations after all the hype it generated. It looks great, but it just fails to deliver a story and characters that I care about.

Check TheForce.net's repository of fan films. Many of them are simply lightsaber fights involving two people wailing on each other in the woods in costumes that look vaguely Jedi-esque with some rotoscoping over their sticks to make them look like lightsabers.

This has sets, and CGI temples, and a plot, and space battles, and Darth Fucking Vader with a real-good James-Earl-Jones impersonator...

It isn't so much just them fighting as it is simply just being "two Jedi in the woods" period. It's like since TPM came out it's been in almost every SW fanfilm, because it's about the only location they can accurately reproduce. Except that it doesn't really work and just looks like two guys dressed as Jedi in the woods.

While it is true that I have almost zero tollerance for fanfilms, the "two Jedi in the woods" thing is mostly intended as a joke.

I actually think that "two jedi in the woods" is a step up from "two Jedi fighting in an office cubicle".

I was impressed, the CGI was very good and the story was ok. The acting was not so good, but that is to be expected; if everyone could just up and act we wouldn't have actors as a profession :)

The ships were cool, but not quite star wars like I thought, and the dog fighting was wicked cool!

I'd give it an A- for the acting.

The split nose carrier at least is star wars. It's in the Tech Comm, and it was nice to see one.

Quite possibly the best fanfilm I've ever seen. Other than acting (obviously), some bits of accuracy (the giant block basically anihilating the Correlian Battlecruiser [to use Bob Brown's name for it]), and the sabre technique (made worse by the editting used in those scenes), I can't think of anything to criticize. Though, IMO, the first half was a lot better than the second half. The dogfight was great, as were all the SFX and props, costumes, sets, etc. The only other gripe is music. Sure, its the director's choice to use faux Star Wars music (much of it sounded like real tracks editted to be different), but it didn't work as well, IMO, and the editting of the music wasn't always that great.

Still, and excellent fanfilm.

Best "serious" fanfilm I've seen.

However, several humour-oriented productions I've seen leave it in the dust.

Troops is alright, although I don't consider it as hilarious as most people seem to.

Everything else pretty much blows ass, though.

I enjoyed it for the most part, save for the awful acting.

I did notice a lot of similarities in the way the shots were set up with the real SW movies, namely when they flew through the ship yard (similar to the Hoth asteroid field) as well as the debris field later.

There are a lot of bad comedy fanfilms, but there's still a few good ones like Troops, Fanboys or The Empire Strikes Backyard. On the other hand, I've yet to come across a single serious fanfilm that I'd consider "good". This one was among the best of the lot, but it was still seriously flawed.

Ugh, Empire Stikes Backyard was awful.

The 'best' serious SW fanfilm is probably still Broken Allegiance.

For those of you with the time and inclination, I strongly recommend just going through the entire TF.n archive and checking 'em all out. Some real gems in there, though most of the 'gems' are in comedy pieces. "Essence of the Force," for instance, is a comedy piece but it's a really well done comedy piece.

I've only really seen KNightQuest, Broken Allegiance, Troops and Death Star Repairmen.

KnightQuest was the first fanfilm I've ever seen so I like it, though I'm a little ticked that they mispronounced Padme as "Podme". THe acting was eh, though I liked the YV-666 that Tara uses.

Broken Allegiance had a good premise but the lightsaber choreography could've been better as well as the lines.

Troops was damn funny.

Death Star Repairmen was nice. The only thing I didn't like was the Trekinization they did. I heard a lot of technobabble.

I watched the trailers and teasers for Revelations but my computer refused to show me the movie. It stopped at the opening crawl.
