Did the Jedi rely on Farseeing as Palpatine did?

Post by Stravo »

Throughout AOTC the Jedi constantly make reference to being blinded, not being able to see things clearly. For example when it is revealed that the Clone Army is being created on Kamino Yoda laments that "Blind we are if creation of this clone army we could not see."

So did the Jedi fall into the same trap as Palpatine? Did they rely too much on farseeing to guide them through big events?

Also did they sacrifice common sense for Force intuition?

For instance they all seem rather frazzled about who had the clone army created, yet if they just did somehting as simple as follow the money trail they could eventually figure out that some of the funding came back to the Senate or even the Chancellor's office if Palpy wasn't careful.

Yet Yoda constantly tells Obi Wan and others to keep their minds clear and use the force to help them find their answers.
Wherever you go, there you are.

I always felt the reason Lucas portrays the Jedi the way he does, is to show how thier arrogance lead to thier downfall. Yoda still acts this way when Luke comes to train. Even early on in all the OT material, you can see that the planwas to keep Luke safe and train him as a Jedi. What the fuck Yoda. Get off your damn high horse. Your not cracking the shell of that nut the way you act. It took the X-Wing out of the swamp trick to turn his head back. Don't forget, letting a teetering kid with delusions of granduer experience the far sight ability. Dumb ass. Some wise Jedi master.

Back to your point. I think the portrayal shows that thier constant relying on the Force, and ignoring any other way of doing anything was thier downfall. Remember, your over confidence is your weekness. Not to mention Palpatine using the Dark Side to cloud thier vision, i.e. Force visions. If it's hard to see, and can disrupt ones use, or even an entire groups use, then it's best to seek other alternatives.

To me it's like trying to convert a fundie to be an atheist, and the Jedi Order has stood longer than any order we can compare to, so it's not going to be easy for them to change.
