Lucas speaks @ Celebration: (Two TV series!)

Post by VT-16 »

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=9301

Highlight:
Lucas confirmed that they are working on two TV series. One will be a 3-D computer animated series and the other is a live action series. The live action series will star some of the characters featured in the movies, though not the main characters. Lucas will kick-off the series himself. They are planning on writing the entire series and then shoot the series all at once. He mentioned Lucasfilm is aiming for a production start in about a year.
Good thing, planning it all in advance. 8)

Yeah, that's really a good idea. Will let them sort out all the kinks.

I suddenly feel much better about the whole idea now. What's the saying, "cautious optimism" :D

I wonder though if the Animated show will be done by ILM or farmed out to another animation house.

I think the recent Lucas animation studio being set up in Indonesia (or was it Singapore?) has got something to do with this.
I also like the fact that Lucas seems enthusiastic enough to personally direct (or at least supervise thoroughly) the first episode of the live action series.

I like how it says the live action series will include movie characters, but not main movie characters. It'd be nice to see the backstory of some minor characters. Perhaps they can also have the series not include Tatooine :D

I can't imagine that they'll go back to Tatooine. Lucas HATES filming in Tunisia.

Uhm, no, no it wasn´t. Tunisia´s been the place for most Tatooine-scenes, even the one in ROTS.

They only filmed the Sarlaac scenes for RotJ in Arizona. Everything else was filmed in Tunisia, with a little for ANH done in Death Valley.

Plus it's Yuma, not Tuscon, if I remember Mark Hamill's voiceover in "The Making of ROTJ".
