i was just watching the History Channels FDR, a president revealed and it looks like Lucas stole another great speech in history and adapted it for Star Wars.

In FDR's 3rd inaguurational speech, he says something to this effect "I am grateful for your power, i love to see democracy prosper and live on, i will lead the nation with this power through the war"

Palpatine "I love Democracy, I love the Republic, when this conflict is over i will lay down the powers you have given me"

There are more than a few sayings IIRC that are rough knockoffs of real life. Take this:
"There are three ways to defeat your enemy. The first, and most obvious, is to better him in a trial of force. The best way is to have him destroy himself; few enemies are so obliging. The middle way is to destroy your enemy from within. Judicious application of the middle way shall make your blows more effective when vou later take the way of force. From the middle way it is also possible to push your enemy onto the path of self-destruction. "

From the ISB Ch.3. See some similarities to Sun Tzu's teachings?

There is nothing really wrong with this. For one thing, a person's imagination is limited and often based on real events. For another thing, great men in similar positions think similar thoughts, and it is hardly surprising that they would say similar thngs.
