Lucas: "What Parallel Universe?"

Uh oh. Its getting harder and harder for the "movie purist" twats to attempt to paint their interpretation of canon their way...

Linky
Lucas touched upon a frequently asked question: what was the imagined storyline beyond Episode VI? "To be very honest with you, I never ever thought of anything that happened beyond Episode VI," Lucas said. "It's the Darth Vader story. It starts with him being a young boy and it ends with him dying. The other books and everything kind of go off on their path, but I never ever really considered ever taking that particular story further."
Hmm..how can a"parallel universe" go off from the SAME PATH as the "main universe" ?? :? :? :?

[Purist/Darkstar]You see! You see! He had no input on anything outside the movies[/Purist/Darkstar]

Sadly GL will have to be very direct and to the point inorder to bring an end to the stupidity

Sometimes i wonder, if "only the movies count" wouldn't be better for the cause.

After all we wouldn't have to deal with 8 Kilometer long Executors, Stackpoles X-Wing-novels and so on.

Movies only is simply a way to forcibly ignore sources that they find hurt their positions.

Meh. Purism can be used two ways. Until recently it was the only way to avoid some very silly EU minimalism. Since the ICSes and general-rationalism movement, the former EUites have become Purists. I always find that amusing.

Someone should quote Lucas back to himself one of these days. It'd be interesting to see how he'd spin his own words from 1980 when he said that Star Wars "is actually three trilogies, nine films."

It's possible that there could be another SW story set thousands of years later in his mind for all we know.

Couldn't this topic have just as easily been titled 'Lucas asks: What EU?'

Back in 1980? I doubt that. According to Gary Kurtz, episodes 6-9 were originally outlined as a prolonged version of what eventually became ROTJ.

I'm actually glad they wrapped it up in 1983 though.

Strike that, reverse it. I've looked very hard at movies only stuff these past 6 months. Movies only can kick the crap out of a lot of things, it just takes much more effort because you have to dig harder to get numbers. Stuff in books is right there for you.

Not even that would pursuade everyone's favorite Rabid Shit-for-brains Asshole. We have a quote explicitly saying the ICS is canon and look how much spin doctoring, taking bits out of context and semantic bullshit he somehow managed to make up with that.

Its not like that changes the ST vs SW debate, though. Alderaan is pure movies. Enough said.
well you see with out the Eu we don't have undisputible proof of the Alderaan Shield. With the EU they can't disput it because the EU says that its there.

Then it the ICS ptoblem for these trekies. I think its that thy don't like the Paramount policy and feel they have to even the field by place it on Star Wars too. This way they can give it back to the Warsies so to speak when we disregard the TM(I use them a good benchmark nothing more)

Anyway killing the 200 GT ICS does not help them much either except they can now do their own cacls claiing others are less accutate,
