I've been told that the battle that decimated Honoghr, the Noghri homeworld, can be found in one of the Star Wars Republic comics, #68 IIRC. I thought this was a good attempt tie-in with Timothy Zahn's Dark Force Rising.
1. What ship crashed, and what contaminant was released?
2. Was it a good comprehensive tie-in to Dark Force Rising, or was it just a one-panel mention?

Re: Honoghr in the Clone Wars
It was a naked Lucrehulk-class core ship (again the DHC must ape the movies verbatim with the ships just featured prominently in the last film, even if it makes no sense; AOTC implied strongly that core ships do not deploy or travel alone in space) containing stores of trihexalon-1138 (thx-1138 easter egg), an advanced Star Wars chemical defoliant.Old Plympto wrote:I've been told that the battle that decimated Honoghr, the Noghri homeworld, can be found in one of the Star Wars Republic comics, #68 IIRC. It lost a fight with something which superficially resembled an Acclamator-class transport, but could easily have been an aesthetically similar destroyer.
It was spilled in a crash-landing (the core ship was relatively intact; the fact that the identity of the ship is lost in the post-ROTJ world is probably due to the fact it was simply ignored by the characters, or the Republic attempted to sterilize the area by nuking the core ship wreck and the immediate surrounding. I think its odd a chemical spill from a single core ship could decimate the global flora and fauna, but maybe its somesort of bizarre self-replicating chemical or something. Obviously a terror weapon/WMD.
Just a few-panel mention; I mean it was the premise for an Aayla Secura/Commander Bly/Master Vos storyline, but it itself wasn't really elaborated upon.Old Plympto wrote:2. Was it a good comprehensive tie-in to Dark Force Rising, or was it just a one-panel mention?
What really annoyed me was the stupid core ship-Acclamator fight, which was obviously the intended portrayal. They did the samething with the Dreadnaughts of Rendili story, where a fleet of core ships and Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers tangle with some Acclamators.

well, vader could just come later while they were still recovering.Lord Pounder wrote:So they're gonna fuck up the EU time line. IIRC Vader was the one to personally appear to the Noghri to "save them" this happened soon after the disaster, yet Annie isn't Vader yet and won't be for a while.

At the start of the novel, one of the Jedi Masters mentions - in passing - that the CIS has used 'chemical weapons' on Honoghr as well.jcow79 wrote:There was also a brief mention of this in "Dark Rendezvous". I believe Ventress made a comment about some disastrous toxic spill on Honoghr.

Or Vader simply came several years later. The toxin will take a while to spread acorss the whole planet. TTT never says how soon after the disaster Vader arrived.Lord Pounder wrote:So they're gonna fuck up the EU time line.
