The Wounded Jedi

Obi Wan gets slashed across and arm and a leg and he is so crippled by pain and his own girliness that he is essentially out of the fight against Dooku for minutes, not even able to muster enough strength to roll out of the way of a falling pillar that would have squashed him. He can mustrer enough strength to widen his eyes and raise his arms pathetically.

Anakin gets his arm sliced off at the elbow, wound instantly cauterized and is force pushed across the hangar and lands on top of Obi Wan. He is completly unconciouss and useless despite having just stood up to a Sithlord, survived a force lightining roasting and recovered enough to enter a duel for his life. One slice off of his arm and he is completely and totally useless.

Luke Skywalker loses his hand and doesn't lose conciousness, in fact doesn't seem to lose much of anything in terms of strength and mobility. Yes he is in pain, yes he is distracted but I assure you if a multiton column was falling on top of him he could have easily dodged it. He escapes Bespin, surviving a hundred story fall, uses the Force to call for reinforcements and leaps down onto the Millenium Falcon.

A far cry from the bitches Obi Wan and Anakin on Geonosis. Obi Wan worse than Anakin because at least Anakin has the excuse of having been force lightining roasted while Obi Wan simply had two flesh wounds yet couldn't even roll away from the falling column.

And MAGICALLY Obi Wan gets up as soon as Dooku leaves. Wow. If I were Yoda I would have expelled him from the order then and there "Much help were you bitch ass. Kicked to the curb you are."

So why is Luke so much hardier than two Jedi far more powerful and better trained than he was?

Not sure. Obi-Wan did survive a multi-story fall in TPM, though, when Darth Maul kicked him off a ledge.

Firstly, how do you know Obi-Wan's wounds were mere flesh wounds? That implies they're minor. Dooku made them just so he would lose the use of his arm and his leg at the same time- there's no way you could cop that and keep on fighting, let alone move significantly, though he was capable of throwing his sabre to Anakin. Luke didn't have any leg wounds, so I don't see how that applies to Obi-Wan somehow being able to roll out of the way.

As for Anakin, there is a big difference between losing just your hand and losing your entire forearm, and he also copped a force push immediately after.

Now, what'd Luke do? He crawled along a narrow beam, and then let himself fall down a shaft (obviously cushioned by airflow of some kind), then fell out and landed on some sort of vane or antenna. So? Wow, he let go of something- hardcore! He wasn't especially mobile, and he needed Lando and Leia's help to get around on the Falcon, just as Anakin did from Padme. Luke quite frankly isn't hardier at all. He didn't perform any great feats, he just let shit happen to him. The only remotely pro-active thing he did was try and climb back up, and that was lame as and he immediately fell back and hung like a stunned mullet.

Btw, Obi-Wan raising his arm was using the force in an attempt to stop the pillar.

And lastly, once RotS comes out you'll see how much pain endurance Anakin has :)

Except of course Obi Wan got up immedaitely after Dooku leaves on his own power, even pushes Anakin's head aside as he gets up, so he obviously didn't lose use of his arm and leg enough to immobilize him, just enough for him to flounder uselessly whgen he's needed most and when Jedi pain techniques and the like should be kicking in.

And Luke's mobility shows that a crippling injury didn't stop him from moving, in fact he keeps moving throughout those scenes depsite his pain. Obi Wan lay there like a bitch. Also he displays some sort of Jedi cloaking ability as he vanishes competely when Anakin duels Dooku. Luke was even strong enough to support his body weight with one hand while hanging on to the weather vane. Dooku could have sauntered over and pissed on Obi Wan and Anakin and drowned them for all the fight they could put up.

Yeah, you're right, its not like Luke was manhandled and physically pushed around by Vader throughout the duration of the duel (far longer and more physically intensive than either Anakin's or Obi Wan's duel with Dooku) pummelled by hundreds of pounds of metal objects, flung out a window plummeting several stories and landing on gantry, right before losing his hand.

Alot more than those two fully trained Jedi could do when Yoda needed them most and they couldn't even muster enough strength to get the fuck out of the way of a falling pillar. All they had to do was roll, nothing special, no force ability required.

I got the feeling that Obi-Wan was using the Force to heal himself while Anakin and Dooku were going at it. Watch him closely after he throws his lightsaber to Anakin.

As for Anakin, I can't imagine that having a limb severed is an exactly pleasant experience, and I've gone into mental shock after suffering from comparatively VERY minor injuries. I don't know how Luke did it, since when I fractured my wrist it was certainly a minute or so before I could even talk coherently to anyone else, but I don't see much of a serious disparity--Anakin was ready to talk with Yoda by the time that Dooku ran away, wasn't he?

I think it may have something to do with how close to the Dark Side Anakin/Luke were compared to Obi Wan, the Skywalker anger letting them see through their pain. In Anakins case in AoTC he had finally taken enough punishment and his body gave in. Luke did turn away from the Dark side, im not suggesting he was ever truly evil, but the rage coupled with his strength in the Force.

I always figure that was what he was doing. As for immobilizing him, would it have been possible for Dooku to have stabbed into Obi-wan's leg and slashed his hamstring or something? If Dooku did that, it would explain why Obi-wan wasn't getting up. And if Obi-wan was using the Force to heal while Dooku was concentrating on other people, it would explain why he was able to get up afterwards.

Could the fact that Obi Wan and Anakin had just been captured, likely without any rest, sent into an arena against big things and fought in a battle with plenty of droids. I think there are grounds for exhaustion there. Plus if I was Obi wan I would just lie there myself, if he is incapable of standing and fighting then what is the point?

Much more likely he damaged Kenobi's Quad. If you've ever had a Charlie Horse, it really keeps you out of the game. I can only imagine what would happen if it was actually severed or torn--such an injury would definitely keep me out of things.
