How bad would it have been if Vader found out about Luke and Leia being his children before Luke and Han try rescuing Leia on the Death Star?

Hmmm, what about Obi-Wan? Not to mention that turning Leia would probably result in his death, I mean she *hated* him and held him in contept of the lowest regards....
Although a Dark Lady of the Sith? Interesting.

Vader would kill Obi Wan; as to Leia, I'm not sure it would result in his death as Sith training, whatever it involves, also seems to incorporate a slavish desire to obey your master- Darth Vader's declaration to Luke on Endor before they went to the forest moon: "I must obey my master".

I mean how bad would it be if Vader found out about Luke and Leia while they were on the DS but before Luke tried rescuing Leia

Do you mean that instead of trying to kill Obi-Wan he would be running right down to the detention centre to have a little 'chat' with Leia?

Define "found out about", also, how does he find out?
I have a few scenarios in my head is why. Like Vader seeing Luke and noticing he has his old lightsabre.

There is such a thing.
Lumiya, Dark Lady of the Sith, formerly known as Shira Brie.
Was an Emperor's Hand and got shot down in her TIE Fighter by Skywalker while undercover with the Alliance during a sabotage mission. Sometime between her cybornetic reconstruction and the completion of her lightwhip on Ziost, she took the name Lumiya and the title Dark Lady of the Sith. It is unclear whether she did while still in Palpatine and Vader's service and they simply allowed her to fancy her delusions and her title was not fullfilled until her sabbatical on Ziost, or whether she took the name and title once her sabbatical on Ziost was complete. Either way, it was Lumiya, a powerful and true Dark Lady who left Ziost to confront Skywalker.
After Palpatine's (apparent) death and Vader's death, she traveled to the ancient Sith Imperial capital of Ziost and studied the remaning Sith materials left, combining them with the study she'd done with Palpatine and Jerec's artifacts and documents and her dark side training from Palpatine and Vader. Constructing her lightwhip, and her initiation to the Sith was complete. She formed her own new splinter group. She's still out there, as of the NJO, and even ran off with some bafforr pollen from an Imperial research station. Her apprentice, Carnor Jax, was responsible for the Emperor's final demise 6 years after Endor, and in the year after Endor, Skywalker persuaded her apprentice, the Dark Side warrior Flint, to abandon his hate, and also confronted Lumiya herself. Losing the first battle, but then defeating her and leaving her a quivering mess, Lumiya hasn't been heard from since (apart from Jax and the pollen theft).

I'm guessin that at least some of it comes from the Dark Horse comic books because that's the only place I've seen Carnor Jax (a renegade Imperial Guardsman with force powers).

don't forget the Falcon was allowed to escape the Death Star. If Vader discovered he had Jedi Twins he would have simply launched more Ties and crippled the falcon, captured his twins and corrupted them. Then Leia would reveal the location of the Reble HQ. Boom end of story.

Maby. Its possible that the rebels were prepareing to leave Yavin when the Falcon showed up with the death star plans. Did they know the princess had been captured? Its likely they stayed on Yavin in an effort to destroy the death star. The rebelion would have suffered a major blow though and would have had a much harder time wining the war.

Lumiya was originally the Imperial highly-trained assassin Shira Brie. First appearance of the green-eyed red-head cliche. In Marvel's SW series. I believe Dark Horse has or is reprinting it, so you may still get a hold of these stories.
Lumiya was retroactively made an Emperor's Hand in Gamer 6.
Lumiya was tagged as being the secret Sith Master of Jax in the same.
I also believe Lumiya's theft of the Bafforr pollin circa the NJO was also chronicalled in Gamer.

The lightwhip is a combination of small energy strands and Mandalorian "Iron" strands bound to handle containing an energy source.
Think a really long flail, part metal, but thin energy strands. IIRC, the energy strands did not effortlessly cut through everything like a lightsabre blade, but the lightsabre is unable to cut through either the metal or the energy strands. It is a old Sith weapon, and can be used to disarm lightsabre-yielding opponents.
Luke, within the year after Endor, got the crap beaten out of him by Lumiya and her lightwhip. However, he managed to toss together a small, one-handed light "dagger" (basically think Yoda's lightsabre) and allowed her to coil up her whip around his lightsabre while he closed in and sliced her mask off with the lightdagger.

Here I thought Lady Yoshi was the first.
The lightwhip is interesting, though. Exactly how effective is the whip in cutting?
