I've just been trying to play TIE Fighter on my moden computer. I keep getting the "Stack Overflow" error, and my attempts to fix it through the MS-DOS prompt and Boot Disk have failed. Any suggestions?

Ooh, I had that problem too. I never fixed it though, got a windows version with X-Wing and X-Wing Alliance.

WinXP won't let me play it with sound.
Bastard, that's one of the best features.

Sadly, you probably need to get the Windows version to play it nowdays. I used to play the DOS version when I had Win95, but Mr. Gates had to go and "improve" everything. So I burned my friend's Windows version of the game

Big mistake, you should've burnt Gates, not the disk.

Do a search for VDMS - it'll let you play with sounds (crappy, but sound nevertheless).

Post your autoexec.bat and config.sys files.

I'm very computer illiterate, so you'll have to tell me how first. Do I open it in notepad, and copy/paste?

Yes. I presume that you do have a autoexec.bat and config.sys files on the boot disk?
I once had the same error, and I don't recall how I fixed it - I'll have to look up some old DOS commands first.
