Apparently... this movie.

Of course, there're only 8 reviews so far, and most of the others should come pouring in during the next week and a half.

Out of, what, six reviews? Doesn't say much.

Remember that TPM and AotC got fresh ratings too. The critics, oddly enough, seemed to go way too easy on them.

I don't agree with that. The early word of mouth on both movies from selected critics (ie. fanboys and those that GL knew would be positive) was positive but the main stream critics and word of mouth was pretty savage on TPM as soon as it went into wide release. The critics were harsh with AOTC - anything positive about the movie was pointed out as a direct response to the awfulness that was TPM (Less Jar Jar, More Action, etc) TPM created a pretty long shadow for AOTC to get out from under.

We'll see if the critics are as rough with ROTS.

And let's remember that the critics were none too kind with the OT movies either.

Wait until it's got some more than single digits. There will be many many more by May 20th.

I like Rottentomatoes because it lets you see the views of both "critics" and "top critics" (cream of the crop).

To be considered a "film critic" (to qualify to have your vote count on there) you have to have a minimum of 200 (IIRC) published reviews.

IMDB.com has it's own ratings, but these are purely of fans. Anyone with an email address can register and vote.

While anyone can like any movie, period, it's a nice way to guage the popularity of a movie. It's not just the view of one critic, but many. Of course critically savaged movies can still be money-makers (see Passion of the Christ).

There's good feedback coming from MF.com, as well.

"I imagine that Revenge of the Sith is very much the film Lucas's fans want to see, but are some of them ready for an anti-Bush diatribe?"
What the flying fuck?

Jesus Christ? And they pay him to spew such total bullshit? How much? I wanna know if I can make a living doing this, as it obviously involves not even watching the fucking movies, or having ANY understanding of movies in general "The scrawl is like the monoliths" my ass... fucking retard.

Some people think any allusions to dictators/poor leaders/idiots with southern US accents are picking on GWB. It's the eeeeevil liberal entertainment industry.

I really must say, WHAT THE HELL?
I really hate it when these so called "proffesional" reviewers get started on a scifi film, especially Star Wars. And this was a positive review?
Honestly, these people are the dregs of humanity.

And of course, as soon as the other reviewers see a few bad or even mediocre reviews from "respected" journalists, they'll jump on the band wagon and reverse their reviews. No matter what ROTS is actually like, it'll turn into another TPM (true, it wasent as good as the OT, but GL didnt "rape my childhood with the film!")

That's ironic, considering that if anything, Lucas is rather conservative politically.

Oh bullshit.

Granted the whole thing with an unnecessary war fought for a false reason is not about bush & iraq - It's about vietnam.

But come on - Lott Dod? Nute Gunray?
Trent Lott
Micheal Dod
Newt Gingrinch
Ronald Reagan

Valorum is even suppossed to be like Clinton - a decent guy if ineffective leader mired in stupid scandals and orcastrated out for political reasons.

For the record, it counts as a negative review on RT.com, but he gave it 2.5/4 stars.

Yes, and this review is particulary bad. I mean, the entire first paragraph basically deals with how Lucas is trying to fill Kubrick's shoes after "2001 - A Space Odyssey" with the "monolithic" opening scroll. For me, this was the first indication that this guy don't know what the hell he's talking about. He should look at some old Flash Gordon serials from the '30s where Lucas got the inspiration for the opening scrolls. The rest of the review is the typical Lucas/Star Wars bash (I mean, he even spells "Vader" "Vadar" ). And for the supposed link to Bush, spare me. I'm not interested.

Err, it's not supposition. Lucas said so. 1999 TIME IIRC. I had to do a thing about people and images in his movies for my symbology class.

Incidentally, rottentomatoes seems to have liked it. It's closing in as "Certified Fresh," and it would be there already if they hadn't put a 2.5/4 star review in the "rotten" category even though that fraction is greater than .6 and therefore should be in the "fresh" category.

Who wants to bet that particular idiot film critic was one of the assholes saying Jar Jar was a racist black stereotype? Never mind that Lucas had all three prequels written BEFORE Shrubby was even elected.

Anyway, the over all rating is now down to 89%. The worst review so far:
"For every thrilling space battle or lightsaber dual you get, you get two scenes with embarrassingly bad dialogue and line delivery."
This idiot clearly doesn't understand SW. SW has NEVER been about great dialogue.
