Need An Agreement..

At what speed does the Falcon travel toward us, the first time we see it at the Battle of Yavin?
I've talked to the best of the calc-ers; they say there's no clear-cut answer.
So-- how about a consensus? Would EVERYONE agree that it was traveling faster than 10kph?
How about 50kph?
Can we say without going overboard, that it was traveling at LEAST as fast as 70kph?
Thoughts, Trekkie and SW fan alike?

I would just like to point out that it is possible that the "camera" (viewing point) is moving as well as the Falcon. In that case the Falcon would be moving relative the camera at the speed we see it. This would reasonably explain how the Falcon managed to get to the DS relatively fast and unanounced while going so "slow" on camera.

sorry. I would usually help but my brain is worn out after 1 week of advanced calculus tests. Must replenish brain power.

Ok. So what speed would you comfortably put the Falcon at? If I get enough responses, I'll make a poll with the final top three results.

Exactly, I really don't think it's possible to get an accurate answer. But from memory and guessing it must be going at least 70kph.

Isn't there a scene where the Falcon is flying toward the camera away from Tatooine? It's been a while since I've watched ANH, but if the camera were moving with the Falcon, wouldn't the planet have been moving away?

If you go north in a car, does it seem like the Sun is moving south?
