A What-If after AOTC.

Sorry if this has been done before, but a simple what-if question.

Suppose that right after Attack of the Clones Palpatine and Dooku both die, just flat out thanks to fill in X diesease. How would this affect the galaxy in the long run?

First off, I think you mean Palpatine and 'VADER"

Second off:

Galactic wide scramble for power. Separatist remnants feel strengthened to try and reclaim terratory. Choas among the weakened senate. Inviting for position of Galactic Leader. And the complete lack of Jedis do to being slaughtered means its impossible for outside help in the situation.

I would be looking at not just a two front civil war, but any system that has a sizeable force would begin trying to make a name for itself. Yea, doesn't that sound like fun.

Why would he have meant that when VADER didn't come around until RotS, and he says 'right after ATTACK OF THE CLONES' - which preceeded RotS by a good three years?

Are you sure? The Jedi are still there after AOTC... And Dooku and Palpatine dying makes more sense than Vader dying as Vader does not yet exist.

My prediction is that someone else becomes galactic senate leader, probably someone like Padme or Bail Organa, the war turns against the scattering Seperatists and the Old Republic survives...

for now.

I think you would see the sepratists splinter and surrender. Some elements would continue fighting and others (like the neimodians) would surrender, but the clone wars would be over. Im pretty sure we wouldn't see an Galactic Empire as we know it from the old movies, but even with palpatine and dooku gone the widespread corruption in the republic would continue to cause problems.

Just imagine that scene of Jar Jar's "speech" in AOTC but instead he says:

"...Now be granting Emergency Powers... to mesa!"

And everyone cheers and votes in favor while Palpatine has a heart attack from the shock of his plan backfiring worse than he ever thought possible.

ATTACK OF THE CLONES: INFINITIES authors WILL take my idea, you know this to be true! *Vader gesture*

Without Dooku's leadership, the Separatists will fail.
Without Palpatine's manipulation, a new Chancellor would be elected, and things in the Republic will likely calm down and go back to their corrupt, decadent, yet stable ways.

At least Aayla, Barriss and Shaak Ti would get to live..
*sniff* :(

Actually one of the best assesments, but one question. What will happen to Anakin?

Hmm.. good question. :o

Was Anakin always predisposed to the dark side, or was he truly a tragic figure, a victim of improbable circumstance? I think the question as to whether Anakin would have fallen without Palpatine's manipulation is another question for a whole other thread altogether.
