Who *isn't* going to a midnight showing?

Since I assume we're all hardcore SW fans and most of us will be going to a midnight showing, I wanted to know who wasn't going to be able to make it. That way, we can take pity on them :) So, who isn't going Wednesday night/Thursday morning, and why?

And if someone responds "I'm not going to the midnight showing, because I'll have already seen it", I'm gonna be pissed  One of my stupid friends won a radio contest and is going to a premiere on Tuesday night...bah!

I wouldn't go to a midnight showing, there's no film on earth, now or ever that I care enough about to be that desperate to see. Ideally, I'd be watching Star Wars on the opening weekend, but a friend's birthday is more important and exams are more pressing, I'll see it on the following week, either on my own or depending on whether my friends have exercised the same restrain, with them. And seeing it with friends is more important to me than watching it at midnight. Frankly I'd be too knackered to enjoy it.

I'm not going to the midnight showing. I like SW, and it seems we might be getting a real Star Wars movie this time.

Still, I couldn't be called a huge SW fan by any standards.

I went to a midnight showing of Ep. I, reserved a room in a nice hotel 2 blocks from the theater with a stunning downtown view, girlfriend and I had a late dinner, went to the movie, walked back to the hotel, slept in and got room service the next day ....

It was a lot of fun, but the movie didn't make it that way ... she moved, so, not doing it for this one!

I'm gonna wait a week or so because I hate crowded theaters.

I'm not going to the midnight showing, as it's likely to be packed in (bleh) and with a bunch of idiots, as well as costing a bunch.

I'm going to the 9:30 AM showing on Thursday for matinee pricing and less people. 8)

I'm seeing it the 20, so the day after it comes out. End of school on Friday, and I go right to the theatre.

Think I might go Sunday morning when it's a) cheap and b) not full of geeks :)

Oh come on! The crowd of geeks is half the fun! :P

I think I'll be out this weekend, so probably the only chance I'd get to see it would be on Sunday afternoon. Unless, of course, I wanted to wait until the weekend after that. But that way, I'd have to spend a week trying to avoid spoilers from all the people here who saw the movie and would most likely be eagerly talking about it.

I'm going to see it on Sunday, opening weekend, because then I'll be able to see it with my friends and the line-ups won't be as bad.

No, I have school that day. I'll probably leave school early to go see it, however.

I would, but like many others I have work the next day. Instead I'm going to the 3:30 showing on Thursday afternoon.

I won't be doing the midnight showing, no. First of all, I can't afford to give up a few hours of sleep in the middle of the night (my nine-month-old daughter isn't likely to oblige me by sleeping in). Second, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, I don't want to be associated with all those geeks. Don't get me wrong, I'm a geek as well. But I won't wait in line for *days* to see a movie, or show up in some sort of costume, no matter what. Those geeks give the rest of us a bad name.

My hope is to let my father watch the baby, so I can slip out for a few hours on Friday. He'll actually enjoy that, I think.

There's nothing about a midnight showing that guarantees geekdom. When I went to the midnight premiere for AotC, there were exactly *two* dress-ups out of the several hundred people.

Of couse, the cinema I'm going to on Thursday morning has a "best dressed" (as in costume) competition going, so ...

Ick. Sorry, my level of Star Wars fandom does not extend as far as a midnight showing.

I got tickets for 8pm on the 19th, but since I'm +8 hours GMT I guess it's still early elsewhere in the world :)

I'll be in Florida most of that weekend for a Wedding. I may be able to catch a showing, but I highly doubt it.
