Palpy Vs. Yoda (With a twist) SPOILERS POSSIBLE!!!!

The twist is, before Yoda goes to fight Palpatine, he goes into full dark side rage mode.......

900 years of pent up emotions, the anger from seeing the entire Jedi order wiped out, he just lets it all loose on Palpatine.

Could he have won?

If Yoda fell to the dark side? Uhhh... Does that automatically make him more powerful? I think he's powerful enough as a Jedi master, I dunno if turning to the dark side would increase his power levels...

Words cannot describe how fucked Palpatine is. If Yoda was THAT powerful without drawing from the Dark Side...imagine what Darth Yoda could do.

Jedi tend to hold back on using their power. They don't let loose like the Sith do. The Jedi know the Force in a distant, contemplative fashion. The Sith grab the Force by the balls and use it to beat their enemies into submission with. Yoda has had almost nine centuries to refine his knowledge of the Force, making him very powerful without having to tap into anything like anger or rage. If he were to let loose like Palpatine, it's a good bet that Palpatine, the Senate chambers, and the building the Senate is housed in would be fucked five ways from Sunday.

An even nastier question:

What happens to the two crimson guards that Yoda only knocked out in the film?

Yeah, Dooku speculates as much in Dark Rendevous.

Darth Yoda aside. After watching the battle, is there ANYway Yoda could have defeated Palpatine?

I stand by my answer in the Episode III Talkback thread:
Yoda realizes that from the very start of the fight the deck is stacked against him. Yes, both he and the Emperor have equal power, but there's a key difference. The Jedi have stagnated in their ways, following the same traditions while the Sith, hidden for a millenia, have adapted and anticpated any contingency. This is where Yoda realizes that if their's any hope of stopping the Sith's Empire, what's left of the Jedi Order will have to adapt (hence training Luke at such a late stage).

Actually, if the fight had continued, I think Yoda would have won. He was Palpatine's superior...but just barely, and it was the right decision for him to run.

Yoda said in ESB that the Dark Side is not stronger, only easier and more seductive.

Perhaps overall it isn't more powerful...but for a quick surge of power in battle, I don't think the Light Side can compete.

Why would it have been the right decision to run when he would've won and spared the galaxy decades of tyranny, hmm? Or maybe he wasn't going to win, maybe he wasn't winning, maybe he was getting his ass handed to him on a silver platter, hmm?

Not worth the risk. He may have been his superior, just barely...but he still could have been killed, very easily.

That was the same case with Obi-Wan, really. The most logical conclusion would be was that he realized Benedict the Sixteenth was too hard to beat - that Benny was at least (and I stress 'at least') as good as him. If not better. Probably better. Way better.

I suspect superior skill. Given the way Palpatine managed to take control of the Republic on his own doing near enough and then kill several Jedi Masters at a whim, I don't see why Yoda wouldn't have finished the job. Face it, Yoda was simply outclassed. If he had died trying to finish Palpatine, he should've gone for it. Instead he allowed him to bring the Empire into fruition and start the biggest series of galactic events ever. Palpatine simply held the fight for longer, though Yoda was matching him on certain grounds (the returning of one of the council pods his way was funny).

EDIT: Besides, this shows I'm right. :P

Personally, when I read that statement, I think "Then you've already lost." If something can give you equal power on an easier difficulty, it is an extrapolation to figure that given equal effort, you can get greater power.

I almost cried when that bastard killed Kit Fisto... -_-
Anyway, if Yoda were to fall to the Dark Side, I would tend to think that Palpatine would be royally fucked. Remember, Yoda said that the Jedi do not use the Force for attack - only defense. I doubt that if Yoda were to actually succumb to the Dark Side, using all the offensive abilities that makes possible, Palaptine would stand a chance in hell.

You know, I really have to say here, just between you and me. If Yoda hadn't have been clobered at the end when he fell off that platform.. He SO Woulde have kicked Palpatines Ass, yea.. I said it.

I agree with you, if Yoda had landed on a higher pod so that he could have recovered like Palpatine did, he could have finished the fight. Unfortunately this did not happen, and in the end Palpatine had the high ground as it were and he could just keep using force lightning on Yoda if he came out and tried to take the fight back to Palpatine. Yoda really only could run to fight another day.

Palpatine is no match for an evil Yoda. Dooku has said as much. Yoda's skill and knowledge of the force, applied to the dark side, would sweep away any living force user, jedi or sith.

Palpatine's death would be long, agonising, and humiliationg.

He probably uses them as blunt objects to beat Sidious up, before tearing them apart.

The Dark Side lets you fight better, but it never delivers as you want it to. Consume you it does, until you do stupid things like kill your wife. In comparison, the Light Side is far less destructive, and offers something the Dark Side never can, immortality.

Didn't Yoda say "Then the Emperor has already won"?

Perhaps for equal effort, the Dark Side can bestow you with more power.. but the Light Side increases the amount of effort you are capable of putting out. :D

No

He wasn't trained in the dark arts.
