Vader versus Luke in the throne room has always been my favorite. The saber fights in RotS are flashy and cool, but will never compare.

I happened to like Dooku vs. Anakin in ROTS, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

I'm going with the Obi/Anakin duel, although the final duel with Vader is just as emotional and powerful. The Palpy/Yoda duel is also high up on my list for the sheer, incredible spectacle.

My favorite will always be the throne room duel. I like cool moves. But I like more factors in a fight.

I never really liked these lightsaber duels.
But the Yoda/Dooku one was just so absolutely hilarious, it has a place in my heart :)

So how would you guys rank them now that EP3 is out

My rank

1. Luke vs Vader (ROTJ)

reasons stated

2. Luke vs Vader (TESB)

Similar reasons for its high rank, but Vader taunting Luke about Leia is why the ROTJ duel wins.

3. Vader vs Obi (ANH)

With EP3 coming out, this duel skyrockets in my ranks to #3. Two friends/foes/masters executing straightfoward moves.

4. Obi-wan vs Anakin (ROTS)

Now this is a duel where actions speak louder than words. Obi-Wan winning with simple strategy is cool.

5. Mace Windu vs the emperor (ROTS)

What's good about this part? IMHO Windu is better with the sword, but the Emperor wins with his strategy. (Yes, I read the discussions.)
However, I don't quite like the looks of Sidious' transformation. I was expecting something either more twisted or lopisided.

Also Windu didn't even bother to cut off Sidious' arm when he had the advantage.

6. Yoda vs the emperor (ROTS)

Although this battle had many factors in it, the impact factor was lower than Obi-Wan vs. Anakin. IMHO It was basically Yoda vs. Dooku 2.0

Everything else is a tie.

I think basically all were good fights so I'm just picking the ones which I enjoyed the most.

Also although not listed, Dooku vs. Anakin (ROTS) basically is on the level between 4 and 5 of my rank. Mostly because of that move with Anakin twirling Dooku's sword as well as cutting off his arms the same time. Counter moves which do harm rock.

Did anyone notice Palpatine's hands were unscathed? I think the lightning just damaged the visage hiding his true face. Either that or Palpatine chose to uncover only his face.

Well in TPM and AOTC Sidious is normal even in private and I have seen (promo) Pics of sidious with hands that were the same way as rest of his body. (more likely explanation is that Sidious masked his hands so it would look like he was only scarded by the Jedi).

No, that doesn't make sense; his hands aren't normal by the time he gives his speech. Furthermore, Clone Wars shows Sidious' hologram as deformed. And furthermore, real-time face-melting is really stupid.

too bad CW is lower in canon then either TPM or AOTC also KOTOR (and KOTOR2) show Dark Side corruption that's (almost) realtime (Darth) Revan goes from regular human to almost alien looking in time you reach Dark Side mastery (and Palpatine is both stronger in the force and older then either Revan or the Exile), sure it's stupid and makes little sence but it's canon.

And the pressure of constraining the abilities and visions of the entire Jedi Order while they attempt to use their abilities and foresight to their greatest capacity during the war could easily have brought Palpatine over the edge. There could be a certain threshold beyond which controlling the ravages of the dark side becomes impossible, and weakening the whole Jedi Order at once while they attempted to fight a war and he hid his identity brought him over the edge. Better explanation that simply DITCHING Clone Wars. You attempt reconcilation before contradiction - always.

That's not even close to real time.

then tell me why would he hide his true face from Maul or Dooku, it's not like they did know (Maul could probaly see it in himself and Dooku was Jedi master) and the Clone wars Sidious doesn't look like Palpatine in post ROTS era.

yeah it's just instant (the key factor is far in to the dark side you have gone (palpatine was already very far into the Dark side)

I might be biased, since it is my favourite of all six, but Luke vs Vader in RotJ is even MORE powerful now. We now have some idea of what Vader wanted, and was probably thinking during this battle. Especially with the Emperor looking on.

so how would obi wan rank amongst the Jedi's and Sith. After seeing the new trilogy it would seem that Obi wan is either really powerful or Really smart... or both. I mean look at what he has done

He survived the jedi purge, kill Grevious, mangled Anakin, Kill Darth maul (with help). if i had to put them in order i would put them like this

The Emperor>Yoda>Obi-wan>Anakin/Vader>Windu>Count Dooku>Darth maul> Qui-gon>Luke

I am just going off the movies not off of EU, i am not sure how powerful luke becomes after ROTJ

I think my "most watched" lightsabre fight will be between Yoda and Palpatine because it’s arguably the strongest and most experienced Jedi Master and Sith Lord going at it.

The battle between Obi-Wan and Anakin was incredible because you could actually understand the characters just by watching them fighting--as you could in the Darth Maul battle, but it had emotion that the Maul fight didn't tap into. The only one that came even close was Vader vs. Luke in RotJ, since that was also a climactic confrontation, but I have to give it to Kenobi vs. Skywalker.

I don't disagree with you outright, but I would ask what proof you have to back up that statement.

Hmm I would disagree with your ranking. We cant rank Jedi/Sith based on who survived. I would go for:

Anakin(at his height in ROTS) > Mace Windu > Darth Sidious > Darth Vader = Yoda > Count Dooku > Obi-wan(at his height in ROTS) > Darth Maul > Qui-Gon > Luke(at his height in ROTJ)

My Justifications:
Anakin Skywalker at the height of his power is undoubtedly the post POWERFUL Jedi/Sith ever. However, he is probably the most STUPID and OVERCONFIDENT Jedi/Sith, which explains why he lost to Obi-wan at the end.
Mace Windu should come in 2nd. He manage to kick the crap out of Darth Sidious. And don't give me the crap that old Palps was faking it... he started faking his weakness when Anakin arrived, but not before!
Darth Sidious should be 3rd as we have only seen him defeated by Mace, and he admitted Anakin is stronger than him.
I put Darth Vader behind his master, as I believe the injury he sustained made him weaker. It would also explain why Vader never challenged his master directly in the 20 yrs between ROTS and ANH.
Between Vader and Yoda, it's hard to tell who is better so I put them at the same rank. However, Yoda lost to Sidious so he's 4th position.
Count Dooku comes in 5th because he loses to Yoda, Anakin(ROTS time), and speculatively Vader, Sidious and Mace.
Obi-Wan at his height during ROTS should come after Dooku. Although he defeated Anakin it doesn't say much. Obi-Wan used Anakin overconfidence and stupidness against him. He won by outsmarting his opponent and not by having greater power/skill.
Darth Maul was a twirly double-bladed bitch it's quite certain at a more mature Obi-Wan would beat him up. He managed to take down Qui-Gon though.
AND finally we have Luke. Untrained boy.

If four Jedi Masters could not take on Sidious and win, how many of them would it take to beat him?

Honestly, I don't even understand exactly what happened at the end. Obi-Wan said something about him getting the "high ground" (even though it wasn't much higher in elevation than the floating platform Anakin is still standing on). Anakin blathered something about underestimating him, attacked and something happened and he was rolling down into the lava.
Mace Windu should come in 2nd. He manage to kick the crap out of Darth Sidious. And don't give me the crap that old Palps was faking it... he started faking his weakness when Anakin arrived, but not before!
I think that part was "set-up". A fight has to look natural. Even Mace Windu would have realized something was badly wrong if Palpy had been tying or winning , then as soon as the door opens and Anakin walks in Palpy starts losing. It just won't look right.

Letting Mace Windu win will also let that arrogant SOB get his head fuller with blood, so he'd attack more aggressively, making him look all the more pathetic and hoping Anakin will fall. The last scene where Palpy goes "POWER!!!" and zaps Mace pretty much says it all. I still can't stop laughing.
Darth Maul was a twirly double-bladed bitch it's quite certain at a more mature Obi-Wan would beat him up. He managed to take down Qui-Gon though.
But Qui-Gon is no slouch himself. Obi-Wan mentions if Qui-Gon had been more "politically reliable" he would have made the Council. He also did manage to hold his soul long enough to find and learn the Whillis Process.
AND finally we have Luke. Untrained boy.
But he beat Darth Vader. Shouldn't that count for something?

Given what happened in the fight, what was clearly needed was quality, not quantity. If Mace and Yoda tag-teamed, they would pretty much own Palpy. With those Jedi Masters Mace actually brought, I doubt bringing ten more of them would make much difference.

I would have thought that Anakin would have reacted to seeing the three dead Jedi Masters lying in Palpatine's office.

At least he started off just arguing for Palpatine to be arrested and tried, even if he had alterior motives for wanting to keep Palpatine alive.
