Ray Shields Technical Error in ROTS

I think I spotted what that might be a technical error.
While Anakin and Obi-Wan were trying to escape with Palpatine on Grevious's ship they were trapped by "ray shields".
Now correct me if I am wrong, ray shields only protects against energy weapons like blasters and lightsabers right? (inferred from ANH, where it was mentioned that the thermal exhuast port was ray shielded so they needed to use proton torpedoes).
So wouldnt that mean that ray shield not stop physical objects like proton torpedoes? (for the record particle shielding is the type of shields that blocks physical matter). So the 3 of them should be able to just walk through the ray shield!
Pls correct me if I am wrong

And there is some proof that shown in the past for humans to effortlessly pass through said shields?
Seriously try and think all the angles before going "It's must be a technical fuck up!"

The old EU stuff used to have it being perfectly safe to fly through a ray shield in a fighter, last I heard.

That doesnt answer the question my friend.
I'm quite certain that Ray shields only block/deflect energy and not matter. That is why proton torpedoes could penetrate the thermal exhuast ports on DS1.

I'd hope a fighter even minimalisticly confers some sort of protection...I mean as a good analogy the Shuttle and Rockets do more then provide thrust from point A to Point B.
I'm still waiting for something that says humaniods walking through ray shields unharmed. Because the fact that they stopped would give a clear indication that it's not something you just go "Pfft...it doesn't stop sold objects!"

Surprise mega-brain. A starfighter is not a human.
While the fighter protects the pilot from touching the shield, touching in with your bare flesh is not wise.

Dumbass....
THEY (ie Anakin, Obi Wan, Palpatine) cannot pass through because it may cause THEM HARM.
How does that fucking Contradict a WEAPON passing through said shielding
?

You think I don't know this? I was raising it for the sake of completeness.

To be honest, I was actually not a big fan of seeing intruder-containment forcefields on the ship. It struck me as too Trek-like.

Yes. But blast doors would have simply been cut through by the jedi.
A large scale stunning weapon would have worked as well, but that would remove the humour.

I figured it was a specific anti-Jedi containment device.
As NecronLord said, a jedi simply would have sliced through a blast door.
Not to mention, Grevous knew he would have to deal with Jedi on his ship sooner or later ("Just as Count Dooku predicted)
He probably had it put in to deal with Jedi

Because unless I am mistaken ray shielding does NOT interact with matter. And since proton torpedoes are basically metal casings, i.e. matter, and they passed through the *RAY-SHIELDED* DS1 exhuast port without any incident, it may indicate that Anakin and company and just walk through the shield (something like what the droids back in the Battle of Naboo, when they walked through the Gungans shields).
Sidetrack: Can anyone confirm that the Gunguns specifically deployed a ray shield around their armies?
And how did you figure that humans will be harmed/injured when they pass through ray shielding? Is that a fact or an opinion?

It's not just pure matter inside your head. Some funky stuff goes on there. Don't want it disrupted.

You honestly don't understand how it can be possible for something to harm humans but not destroy metal objects?

Of course I can understand. But you guys are working on the assumption that ray shielding is harmful to humans. And where did you get that assumption? Oh maybe because it glows and it's called a "ray shield" so it has to be harmful to humans... Great justification man... Isn't there anything more specific besides your common sense?
Unless I am wrong, the SW universe has a thing called "particle shielding", which is specifically designed to block/deflect non-energy based weapons, i.e. torpedoes. So why didn't Grevious deploy his particle shields instead?

It seems that Jedi generally have problems with forcefields:
-In Ep. I, the blocked Obi-Wan's way.
-In Ep. II, they can be used to imprison Obi-Wan.
-In Ep. III, Anakin and Obi-Wan can't get out of the shield-bubble.
-In DE, the energy cage (a forcefield adaption) nullifies the Force.

Okay dumbfuck...now you're just flining a lovely little strawman.
The Burden of Proof is to show Anakin and Obi Wan are such dumfucks to stop there.
Do you have any?
No?
Shut the fuck up then.

Perhaps lower energy requirements?
Or do you want to move the goal posts?

In The Phantom Menace Trade Federation destroyer droids had built-in ray shields, and the Grand Army of the Gungans was also outfitted with portable in-atmosphere theatre shields. These were ray shields, but they may have had some deflector function as well. We did not see living flesh pass through any of these shields, and it is to be expected that such contact would result in lethal scorching, like in The Courtship of Princess Leia. Battle droids, being made of unliving matter, could press through the shields with minimal effort. It would be interesting to see whether protective armour made of similar materials would provide the same advantage to living soldiers. (This may be one benefit of stormtrooper gear.)
The Gungans didn't seem bothered by shield heating, but the air mass under their shield was probably large enough to allow survival for several hours. However an extended stay under the sheild might make the enclosed air insufferably hot. At some point the Gungans would suffer asphyxiation due to the exhaustion of oxygen in the shield-enclosed air. (That time limit depends on the oxygen consumption and tolerances of the personnel and beasts of the Grand Army.)
BTW, i should think a Jedi could TK the projectors of an anti-boarder forcefield system if they wanted to.

Do you have any proof from the movie or EU for that matter that ray shields cause harm to humans? No? Then perhaps you should shut the fuck up.
At least I inferred that ray shields wouldnt have stopped them cos we have seen matter passed through ray shields before. Whether it will actually cause harm to humans is still debatable.
EDIT: Thanks to Winston Blake who provided conclusive evidence that ray shields does indeed cause damage to human flesh. I rest my case then.

While it may not interact with fighters or torpedoes in such a way as to prevent their passage, that doesn't mean it has NO interaction with matter AT ALL. I mean, do you really think you could walk up to... say... a warship-grade ray shield and stick your bare face into it? Enough of ANY form of energy can kill you! It's fucking energy!

I liked it- Anakin etc inside the shield had no way of getting out, unlike Trek forcefields. I also like the contrast with safety systems during decompression- huge metal blast shutters- BANG.
And I'm pretty sure the one on the bridge of the IH came down quikcer than the forcefiled in ST:N.

How about the film you just watched, RotS? It seems to conclusively show that ray sheild do indeed cause harm to humans, such that it can be used to contain them. You don't need secondary EU evidence when the latest film shows it.

Additionally, I recall some of the text in WEG materials advising to NEVER touch or otherwise come in contact with ray or particle shields, because of the fact that they're near to completely fatal on contact.
